Hi all
I was paddling at Flinders and broke my paddle shaft trying to get over a breaking wave.
Does anyone know where I can source a replacement carbon fibre shaft?
They seem hard to find - not much info anywhere
Thanks Andrew

If you managed to keep the off cut from when cut your shaft to length, get your angle grinder with a continuous rim diamond blade and cut two slots about 5 mm apart, clean up the break best u can and get hold of some carbon fibre off-cuts, dose up the sleeve with Araldite or epoxy glue, insert the sleeve and it tape to something to align and keep straight - when cured 24 hrs later? get some 80g sandpaper on a firm block 120 mm wide and sand 60 mm either side of the join to form a 1.5mm? deep rebate or tapper around the shaft. brush another brew of epoxy glue and lay up with Carbon fibre til flush or proud of shaft then sand flush when cured and she'll never break there again!
Good Luck!

Or look up excel composites and tell them what your after. They made me a shaft when mine snapped. Other options are to ring up the supplier of the paddle and see if they have any shafts lying around.

Thx everyone - I got this paddle with the board second hand and it has no distinguishing brands - very light and excellent to use so I don't have a clue which brand.
The break is pretty messy and I suspect beyond a fix although thx very much for the detailed solution it has got me tempted. In the past arildyte has fallen apart in the salt water - I will have another look at the shaft and see if I can reserect it - I will also have a chat to the guys at trigger bros or zac's and see whether they have a replacement.
really appreciate the comments thx again
Andrew
