I'm lookin to get a cheap sup package for my gf, it'll b only used in flatwater cruising. I came across blackhawk boards on the net there packages r quite cheap. Anyone tried them? Or any other suggestions would b good, ideally want something round the 10-11 foot by 30" or bigger, thanks

I just bought a 9"6' Surfing Hawk. Unreal value and really stoked with it. They import these from China however they appear to be reasonably robust. The carbon paddle is fine and the leash and board bag is ok as well.
I can't comment about shipping because I picked it up direct from the factory unit in Sydney.
I used it over the weekend in 1 to 2 foot knee burners. Really happy with its performance and can't wait to get it out in bigger stuff.
For entry level you really can't go wrong.
PS...these guys are on eBay but I bought directly through their website and got the whole package for $699. Like I said, great value for entry level.
How can u tell it's robust after 1 paddle on it? Kinda sus u only got 2 posts both on this topic. Anyways how did it handle have u tried any other boards to compare it to?
If it costs around $600 to buy a surfboard and these packages are for a SUP (which is twice the materials of a surfboard and also factoring the epoxy construction of the sup) and they include a paddle, cover and a legrope then what quality can be expected?
If the quality is up to the standard of other manufacturers then it would imply we are getting ripped off when we buy all of our surfboards, SUPS and windsurfing boards.
If you choose to buy a price point product then I think you can really only expect quality to match.
There seems to be a growing number of fly by night brands who have jumped on the bandwagon because SUP is growing so fast and they just want to make a buck while its a cash cow.
Are they genuinely supporting the industry and going to be there to offer you product support if they dont live up to your expectations?
I agree u get what u pay for but dont wanna spend too much on a board that won't b used much either
This is a mass produced board from China don't forget so they can do these cheaper. It's a no brainer that you get what you pay for however for entry level I would have paid more for a second hand board and paddle, bag, etc.
It seems robust enough in terms of the construction being epoxy. Time will tell.
It is no frills in terms of no single to double concave etc but for learning the art it is fine...for me anyway. It turns ok and has reasonable speed down the line given its length.
After 12 months I will look to upgrade and pay the money for a better package but for now it is doing the job.
