Any one else using a Bic Wing for fishing? Caught lots of fish with mine....a few schnapper at Hukuwai Beach near Opotiki a couple of days ago
what is going on with the breeze lately? Have made posts....nobody insulted me ...or threatened to punch me?
Hey Gizzie,
Yes forum has slowed down and winter so not that many days on the water but got some waves last two days
A mate has a Bic wing for flat water padding, great to see you catching fish from it.
The best fish is always the ones you catch yourself.
Classic iron lady, not so pc but funny you should have posted that in funny images.

We pissy aussies dint hive the bills to insilt ewe bro after thit episode a few years back when ewe were hinting down thit lid thit offended ewe. Seriously though, we love your posts and please excuse my poor Kiwi spelling. Keep your posts coming.
Still slightly guilty that the Bic Wing is a "fish death machine".....got this 12.7 kg kingfish a couple of days ago
Nice fishes Gizzie, I would like to get so big fish when I'm trolling out to sea. I should try a Bic to paddle on, I would never tell your angler secret, ;-)
Bic Wing is nice & smooth paddling in glassy conditions (zero rocker)......but big effort if you heading into headwind & choppy waves. Best avoided :)
A bit dodgy.....3km of longline on the Wing.....kind of hoping for glassy conditions?
Very sustainable Gizz hope you didnt tec screw the driftwood to the deck
nah.....the Bic Wing comes with built in driftwood attachment points.
All was good......didn't notice scary sharks.....and caught some fish
A bit dodgy.....3km of longline on the Wing...
Wow Gizz, for a moment there I thought you said 3km of longline.
yep....3km of longline.....the sadly discontinued 12'6 Bic Wing has four attachment points on front deck in front of deck pad

For those of you curious about the 3 km of longline thing......I anchor line to beach.......paddle out while attaching hooks where I think fit (allowed 25 hooks in nz).....anchor end of line with light bit of chain.......wind line back in to beach with primitive second hand 12 volt winch
Sick set up Gizz. I reckon something like that would go pretty good here too eh - although 3 kay's of line might get a tad frowned upon.
I reckon a stingray spear would go alright off my 14' Search - stingray's a top feed eh - and there's plenty of them around. I've seen the occasional mud crab swimming past - just getting them on the board without losing a finger's the trick. How good's the feed you're getting - wild!
Inspirational stuff Gizz.

Here regulations are one person or boat one longline only permitted. Maximum of 25 hooks allowed. Must have name/phone number on marker buoys. You would not be popular here in Tolaga Bay targeting stingrays. Around here they have a good reputation....traditional spiritual relationships with local people. "Walk with and pat and feed the stingray" activities along a local beach area.
But yep......definitely a buzz paddling out and catching something (sometimes slightly frightened}
Not just me eating these fish.....,.big schnapper and kahawai (mayb half a kahawai where sharks have nibbled) at Tolaga Bay today. Did catch and release a very cute thresher shark......almost a magenta purple colour
Today nearly got to try out my Paddle Surf Hawai 12'6 ripper with an electric fencing reel 1000m of line.....but conditions were dodgy.....was a Bic Wing kind of situation,,,,,next time maybe?
put line out today with help of friend (he doesn't actually do much......just floats around nearby on one of my boards.....but I totally believe the shark will bite him first lol). We moaned and whinged.....because no big fish......but still 4 or 5 schnapper,,,,a big kahawai.....a couple of gurnard so all good
Probably the most important Bic Wing fishing advice....strap a Ke Nalu paddle to front deck in case you snap your cheapy paddle lol
Probably the most important Bic Wing fishing advice....strap a Ke Nalu paddle to front deck in case you snap your cheapy paddle lol
Is that because of past experience
Must be that point where learners say have snapped 3 cheap paddles.....get a bit of quality? ..but obviously did snap the ke nalu previously.....
