Saw these at Ocean addicts and while I've been interested in the Fanatic all waves seeing the recon and its planshape appealled to me a lot more as an experienced surfer but so far non-plussed surf sup'er.
Plenty of time paddling flat water with a 12' race board, Naish 12'6" expedition and Surftech Joe Bark 14' expedition.
Every time I have ventured out in small waves on a Naish Nalu 10'10" and my wife's Fanatic fly 10'er I have had a pretty un-inspiring time on them.
Frustrated at my own balance issues and to be honest not used to looking like a complete schizo flailing around in the surf (doing my level best to tuck the ego away) I've not persisted.
As no doubt with many surfers that have attempted to sup I have remained much more interested in surfing surfboards when there's even a hint of a decent wave.
The 34" wide but pulled in tail and nose of the recon is looking like a stable platform whilst still having the outline curve to turn reasonably well while having enough volume to easily support my 92+kgs and even my 5 year old on there as well when I am more proficient.
Would like to take him with me in ankle snappers on really calm days.
I'd mostly on really ride it on very small days and so would like some glide but not in a longboard/nose rider planshape.
So does anybody have any first hand feedback on this beast?

Cuttlefish I spent a couple of weeks with the SIC Recon 10'6".
Surfed it in everything from chest to knee high surf,not surprisingly found it surfed much better from waist high-plus, turned very well off the tail, fast down the line and holds a rail well for a board that large but really needed more of a push to get my 6'4" 100 kg going.....mostly due to the 34" width,the heavy nose rocker and high volume.
Was not impressed with the lack of glide or tracking paddling from A to B and was very difficult to get going in small surf. Also, found that with the pulled-in nose even @ 10'6" this was not a nose rider, which for me was severely limiting and essentially the deal-breaker.
I believe this board was designed for an even larger person than me, for use in bigger surf than I usually see.

I just went and had a paddle in some ankle snappers on the Recon.
Concur with your findings.
Came away thinking the demographic for this board would be 100 kg plus, tall Hawaiins who already sup well but need the floatation, width in the centre.
When I stepped back towards the tail to go into a surf stance while trying to catch ankle snappers I felt like I'd benefit from a wider, more stable tail for my meagre sup surf skills and also the added planing area from a wider tail.
So now I'm scoping Fanatic allwaves and Naish Manas.
The new Naish Mana 10'er seems to be invisible on the internet and can't even find specs for it.

CF I would without hesitation recommend the Fanatic Allwave 9'6" (or maybe the 9'2" at your weight).
Have surfed the 9'6" for two very full seasons in everything from knee to well overhead, find it's a great mix of fish/short board style slashing (so far as a 9'6" will slash ;-) with surprising nose riding capabilities. Not the fastest ride you could get but can handle it all pretty well. It truly is an "all wave" design. And built to last!
Very, very very stable! If you just want to surf it go one size smaller than you think....or go one size up if you see doing more recreational-type micro surf surfing or flat water paddling. I love the Allwaves!

Reckon the 9'6" is the one as I will only use it when I wouldn't normally surf and with an eye to taking my son for joy rides in barely breaking stuff to stoke the little guy out on the ocean and its feel.
Now to find a used one.
All the 2014 models are coming out.
