I'm considering the 2013 Amundson 11' Cross for a longboard-style SUP....for approx. 75% surf and 25% flat water use.
Looks like it carries a little more width throughout and volume for me at 6'4" 100 kgs and still has somewhat refined and thin rails and low rocker for glide.
Would like to hear more about this new board and it's suitability for someone my size.
Hi AkeG. The 11'0'' Cross is perfect for the type of riding you want to do but just a bit shy of the volume you might want at 100 kilos. Have you looked at the 11'6'' Source? The 11'6'' has a great long board style surf style and is excellent in the flat water (excellent glide). Being 6'' longer than the Cross, you (at 6'4'' and 100k) will not give up any wave performance, only gain on stability, buoyancy, and flat water glide performance. I hope this helps.
Aloha,
John
John, Thanks for your reply!
Was not thinking I'd get the same kind of wave performance out of the 11'6" Source than I would from the 11' Cross. Have previously owned a 10'5" x 30"x 4" Starboard Drive 160 L longboard style SUP and found it very stable and adequate for flatwater work outs but sluggish in the surf!
Currently own a Fanatic Fly 11' x 32" 217 L which is a comfortable board going from A to B in any conditions but very big, stiff and heavy feeling for me on the wave.
So I'm reluctant to go much bigger than 11' x 30" for surfing/nose riding because of my previous surf experiences with larger boards however if you think the difference between your two boards weight and performance wise is minimal of course I'd take your word for it.
Wish I could demo both but that's not an option where I live.
