Interested in any thoughts on these 2 boards. I weigh 74kg and have a the 9'2" allwave which vol. is 160L. The JM 9'1" Kwad is 130L.

Never ridden a JL Kwad but have a chance to pick up a used 9'1", unless it sells before I get it. My 9'2" allwave is fun and very maneuverable on the wave. Just wondering with the less vol. of the Kwad will help me shred the wave more/better.
Haha... anyway looking for feedback from anyone that has ridden these boards.

Only ridden kwad deffinantly be the picked of the 2 the all wave is a bit of a tub where the jl is more refined at 75 kg may as well go the 8"7. Kwad need to be surfed off the tail

Have to agree with Radman. Hired a SUP when OS. I'm 75kg and the 9'1 Kwad felt like a log when compared to my normal board. Swapped with the 8'7 and was rapted!! Used it for the rest 0f the week.

At 110kg I can ride the 8 7 so have to agree. Had the 9 1 for a year fantastic in up to head high waves, bit more technical after that due to the width of the tail.

I have ridden both, owed a Allwave and hired a Kwad in Bali, I weigh in at 85 kg. I found the Kwad a lot less stable too be honest compared to the Allwave, if i was you I would go for the 8ft10" AW, bit lighter and looser.

The 9'2" Allwave is more suited to "big boned" beer drinkers that can apply a lot weight to their back foot to turn and even then they are very corky. I would suggest speaking to a local shaper, finding out the price of a custom, and if necessary using the Allwave as a template, create a thinner, harder railed board. If you really want a production board then at your weight you want to go sub nine. It depends on your surfing ability and your patience. I haven't ridden a Kwad but Hilly gave them a big wrap as do many of the people that ride them. I still think sub nine is the go

KWAD better shape and much better construction

For the 9ft 2 you seem very much on light side already so reckon going down in volume is not going to be a bad thing. A lot depends on your ability and where you surf (sort of waves etc).

A lower volume SUP will help you move around more (slash and burn) but you'll lose out a bit on wave count and stability maybe.

ive spent quite a few hours on a 9'7 quad and i own a 9'2 allwave (im 98kgs)

the allwave is too big for me, so its def not ur go too board. i thought the 9'7 kwad (150 l) was pretty slow and my allwave was better.

surfrod knows his stuff, go the 8'7. id reckon a 9'1 would not be much better than the allwave??

Good info here from all and thanks.. I'll pass on the used 9'1" kwad and keep looking for the next board which will be lower vol. than the 9'2" allwave.
