Hey John, great summary of a top board. Just curious about one aspect of this years starlite model vs last years starlite model. I contacted Starboard in September with regards to the weight of this years model and they said the construction is exactly the same as last years and there was no weight difference. This seemed to contradict what the Australian dealers had been told. Have you actually weighed one? I was thinking of upgrading but no point if there's no difference.
Hi Mick
Weight of boards is a good conversation for SUP with lighter weight not always being ideal.
New smaller rear fin size on H Nut for 2020 I think, got some at Starboard in Thailand back in May
Put my rears in the front and new smaller rears in the back and my 7'2 goes better. Way better.
Hey Jack, agree the smaller back fins really loosen up the board. I put smaller fins in my 2017 8'6 and it was great. The board you rode in May would have been the 2019 model, of which I have the 8'4. I agree lighter is not always better, unless you have to carry it a long way, which I sometimes do. Also I prefer the lower swing weight in the nose. So for me, lighter is better. As Colas said, how hard is it to put one on the scales. Also, if the 2020 shape, volume and construction is the same, how can they be lighter than the 2019 model?
