Hi mate i have an allwave 8'6 30' 130L running jackson close fins on it..im trying to find a lighter board with losing volume or length..my question is ..the new 8''3 at 32' wide..is this going to give me much more performance than what i already have? any feedback on how you find your new board be most appreciated.
thanks
still running the tri fin option on my 8'3" (standard setup) what is the main differences with the quad setup ?

Dont forget to try a quad + nubster combo. I never tried the Naish, but it works wonders for wide boards.

what is a nubster? Is that a small fin in the back centre box??
Thanks for that..thought so..cheers
Hey what other boards with similar length and width can you compare it with? Im keen to demo one :)
I've run mine with a Jackson close quad with nubster and it's great!
Currently trying it out with the JC front fins and a futures solus rear hatchet fin (which I converted from futures to longboard box) , and it's really good. Super loose, and fun in the small stuff...

I have the FCS one, and two I did myself sawing & sanding a cheap plastic FCS one that came with one of my surfboards, quite easy to do.
+1 for colas, boards with wider tails work well with a nubster in the rear alongside a quad, especially oncs the waves get a little bigger. Then take it out when its small and throw that tail around. ![]()

I've got the hokua 7'6 le which is like a mini x32 (29.5 wide). Anything over waist-chest high and I'd agree that wide tail got a bit lively- i just couldnt get on with the board in those conditions.
I added a middle box (amazingly the 7'6 doesnt have one) and have used it as a thruster when it gets bigger.... problem totally solved. Also I used it as a quad plus knubster for the first time the other day and that seems to go great.
