Just wondering if anyone has seen the new 2014 range by Fanatic. Im dying to try the new 14footer. The other question that I have is has anyone tried the 14ft JP race board???
I am trying to make up my mind which new toy is due to arrive in the garage and was hoping that someone in the breezer community may have already tested either one or the other and might share an opinion.
I've spent quite a bit of time on the final proto for this year's Fanatic. It's very different to the previous models and is going to be super competitive. Once again comes in 3 sizes - 24.75, 27.25 and 30. The nose is very different to the previous models as is the bottom shape. The thinner board definitely has the flat water speed and the new nose and bottom shape make it awesome fun and very fast on downwinders. Very stable even in the ocean on the thinner board.
There is a lot of hype on this board and there are lots of pre orders already. I know some shops here in Oz have orders on their first 2-3 deliveries. The Australian retailers returned from the Fanatic demo weekend very excited.
The new JP certainly looks fast but I haven't ridden it.
Sam at WindSurfnSnow has a good idea on how they both go so he'd be worth chat.
GC - I've ridden the JP and its quick even by my standards.........I had the wood 39.75 wide version you would go smaller......worth considering
Fanatic havent even seen so cant comment............ring Sam!
I might give Sam a call Mr Shire. There seems to be some stupid quick boards coming out. I am wondering exactly how narrow I can go. Might even be tempted to go the 24.75. mmmmm
Or gregc if you are in ACT go see the boys at wetspot.
they have the Fanatics
but not the new 2014 model. As NNSUP said quite different. talk to Sam and then when the 2014 Fanatic is back in Sydney go try it out with all the others available....
Can tell you that the new JP Allwater 14 x 26.5 is also a great board. Was lucky enoguh to put in a quite a few sessions on this guy in Mauritus recently and whilst there was no real cross comparing I loved its feel on the water. Picked up and ran on even the smallest bumps and lumps.
Definitely worth a thought this Summer as it shows all the signs of being a great marginal to full on conditions downwinding board.
Will post some pics next week when it shows up.
Sam.
There you have it from the horses mouth...............the JP is the board........so GC you better buy a Fanatic so i can catch u on the big lake in november ![]()
Waiting for the new ones to come into Wetspot Shire. I am tossing up which to upgrade to though, Fanatic, Starby, DC or JP. All are so dam nice looking and I have been told that they are completely different to last years models and much faster. Choices, Choices hey a good first world problem to have.

Nice one Greg. Better is a big call and a nice little twist by your fine self
. I prefer to call the JP a good option for a paddler looking for a great around race board. Better than the Fanatic is going to be up to the individual, whether it's faster will need some back to back testing.
Fun times though.

Nicely played WsnS.
Very A-political of you.
yep Sam I am looking forward to the testing phase. I also had a look at the DC 14 that is a sexy beast of a board to I reckon.
I'm a low maintenance type of guy so its production all the way for me these days. I dont want to start a debate about production vs custom but for me I am incredibly happy with the stuff that is coming out of the factories. The build quality and the resilience of the product is something that we would have only dreamt about only a few years ago.
Btw I ended up staying with the Fanatic.
Hey Greg, wasn't meaning construction as both Cobra and Dale build excellent boards. Was referring to shapes of which Dales current shapes are quite evolved from the NSP's.
Did you get the 14 x 27.25" ?
yea, I do wish that Fanatic did a 26 but the 27.25 is a rocking width, stable enough but thin enough a good compromise
I'm a Fanatic Team rider in the UK and I've had a demo 2014 Fanatic for two weeks now. Its the 14' X 24.75".
I think its fantastic! Its as stable as the 27.75 2013 version, Probably due to the flat bottom and sharper rails. It picks up the tiniest or swells and just fly's! You have to stand towards the back of the handle, or even behind it to get the best out of the board, which is the opposite of the 2013 version. This keeps the nose out of the water which seems counter intuitive as you are reducing the waterline length. However it seems to work really well. If you are fit enough to keep the power on and maintained, then you will fly on this board. Its especially good for strong starts and finishes as the nose seems to lift and plane. I've not tried it on any sizeable swell yet, but I'm sure it will excel. I can't see anyone being able to nose dive it due to the volume in the nose.
I've raced this board over:-
6km = 4th in class This was the first time I paddled it and I was stood forward of the handle, this resulted in me pushing water.
4km = 2nd in class
1km sprints 2nd in class
I haven't even seen the JP so can't compare, but I still have my 2013 falcon and given the choice its the new one for me!
