I figured there was enough info on the breeze about the new (to USA) Mana... but I have seen some inquiries lately about the differences from the 2013 model.... so I decided to post my review.

I have owned both the 2013 & 2014 in the past 6 months. BIG differences.

The 13 paddles better in flat-water and surfs well in soft waves up to head high... but uninteresting in good waves.

The 14 has less glide in flat-water but is a LOT more capable in all waves. 163 liters

I'm 100k and 66 yrs old... here's my vid... most of it shot my first 3 hours on the board:

Good review. Thanks!
I was wanting to get a 2014, but none were available, so I settled for a 2013. I like it, but I think I'll like the 2014 better( like it appears you do)!

Rockin' it!!!

Thanks for the video Supthe' . The pulled in nose treatment looks the same as the Allwave's upgraded 2013 to 2014 shapes. Looks really similar in the way they surf as well.

Has anyone surfed both boards?

Cheers

Thanks for the great video and review.
Board not suited for North Sea: too much rocker - this will result in always being too slow between the fast waves with short period.
28lbs is heavy - requires even more hard peddling for North Sea in order to get up to speed.

@John4F
Can you explain here how you would know this, did you test it out yourself, if so , in what conditions and where ?
If I compare the rocker line, with my X 32, wich works great in the northsea, I can see absolutely no reasen why this board would not work and if weight is a isue, there is a another version from the same shape.

Hi John... I hear you about North Sea conditions.... but I think the Mana might surprise you.

My board is a freak.... it is way above specs for the 9'5 Mana....
my 2013 was MUCH lighter.
but the funny thing is.... it surfs amazingly well.

I find that it has plenty of speed, never had issues with that.

Today I was surfing my 8'11 Hobie RAW ... 6.3 kg 120 liter... best board I have ever surfed.... by far....
BUT... even coming off that.... I still really like the way the 9'5 Mana surfs.... if that means anything

post some North Sea action for us!

Classic! Nice work STC!
That is exactly what that board is designed to do - making it easy to rip up small waves.
Your ripping at at 66, all coated in rubber!
Well done! Keep em coming!

one of the most enjoyable videos I have watched on seabreeze

wondering STC what is the water temp over there , still seems to be a few blokes getting out amongst it

flowmaster / john would love to see some pics/ videos of the action in the north sea /Netherlands

Thanks guys... I appreciate it

Winter surfing in New England frequently sees sessions when air is -10c or lower and this year... more of the super cold days (-10c) than most, which resulted in very cold water temps... 1 to 2c. I was kept out of flat-water paddling a number of days when the saltwater bays and rivers were frozen solid.

We are used to it, and although it thins the ranks nicely... there are still a good crew of hardcore guys and girls to surf with.... heck, there were lots of day that we would have 25 SUP's out.... at good pointbreaks, it's not uncommon to have 50 surfers out in -10c weather.

Winter is a great wave season... plus no lifeguards or parking problems

Ok it might be off topic, but North Sea conditions can be like this.

These are for nort sea conditions good days, with a high pressure over the Netherlands and a low over Norway, the post on the under 8 topic shows Kees on the spot where I go most off the time called Domburg

Looks nice flowmaster... thanks!

It's funny.... I grew up in a world when, it was believed, that only Hawaii and California had REAL surf... it's so cool to see surf EVERYWHERE in the world.... even in the Great Lakes and inland seas. Great fun to be able to share the stoke from so many places around the planet

funny , for the same reasons as you STC - good swell , no crowds ( normally have the beach to myself ) , love the winter surf ,

Often get told I am crazy being out in the cold and rain( as recently as last Thursday night ) , but our water temp in winter is about 10 - 12 degrees so compared to you blokes we are in the tropics
We often have snow in the hills here when the surf is on but last time snow settled on the beach here was about 30 years ago , do believe they get it more often around the southern parts of tasmania
