Has anyone had a go on one of these boards? I have been looking at these for a while, and was lucky enough to demo one this weekend.
This board is a 14ft Yolo Prowler Bomber race board. I believe it is 27inches wide and 293ltrs. V bottom single fin, quiet release tail. Small chop doesn't bother it, just cuts right through. Catches small swell easily, which makes for long glides. Great excelleration. Not unstable, but if you are used to something wider, it may take a bit longer until you are confident on it. I am impressed. I have demo'd a few boards in my 2 years of SUPing, and this one is up there with the big names. For it's price this is a good board. It comes with a SUP carry handle. There are a few MINOR imperfections in the "finish" of the board, just a bit of pitting, but nothing that would affect it's performance.
There are a couple of paint jobs available. It is good to see something different. Thanks Folks.
Cheers PB...;)

'You Only Live Once' boards look great.. Thanks for the pictures..

I've never seen them down under but they're big sellers in the US.

Glad you enjoyed the pics.:)
I know of one other YOLO board in my area. I think that is all there is, at the moment.

I took one for a play a couple of weeks ago and I didnt mind it.

It was very stable - almost too stable for me as I felt that you could get more speed out of a slightly thinner board

I was paddling around a lake with a 15 knot breeze and into the wind you had to be quite a way back on the board to ensure that the nose dosent submerge through the chop, this didnt feel fast as it drags the arse of the board.

Down wind the board was nice and linked runners well.

I liked the paint job but definitely didint like the handle which was a lift out type rather than just a cut out.

Yes , the handle is the one thing I am not keen on.
This type of handle is being used by a couple of board manufacturers. It will be interesting to see how they wear , and how "intrusive" they are when it comes to surfing, you would not want to get your toe ripped off.
Paddling into the wind is difficult . I found that standing further up the front of the board helped with the control of the nose, didn't drag the back end of the board at all.
Cheers PB ;)
