What's Sup Bro!!!!
I'm 92kgs and I went to Bali last May thinking I could take any size length board on a Virgin flight. I was hoping to take my 9.11ft 160 lt Walden Sup. Only found out a week before Virgin would only allow 9 foot and under. So freaked out!!!!
Looked on seabreeze and found a guy selling the 2013 new 8.5ft starboard pocket rocket at 130lt at a reduced price of $1350. I brought it as it was the only thing I looked at that would fit on the plane. Now at the time I was 100kgs ans wasn't even sure I could float on it.
I got to Bali and absolutely fell in love with the board. It held me, although slightly under water but I was able to surf it and rip!!!!!!
I live in Melbourne and have nearly had the board for a year now. I surf bells etc all the time and have surfed it bewteen 6 to 8 feet waves. But it handles better up to 4 foot and no wind.
For my size at 92kgs it doesn't handle well in slop or strong offshore winds. But those glassy mornings look out! This board rips waves apart. I forget how big it is. Its quit chunky but in perfect conditions it rips. I have some ideas on how it could be improved, but would love to talk to starboard designers and try to get a free board out of it lol....
Overall I would give it 8/10 and is the best option for the bigger guys out there who want a high performance board for perfect conditions up to 4 foot. More speed and maneuverability. I can do floater's, cut backs, re-entres and get barrelled.
This board I would definitely add to the quiver if your a big guy like me who wants more speed and is looking to add to your SUP collection.
