I'm approx 74kg and have tried the 9'2 All wave which was to big for me & was
wondering if anyone has tried the 8'6 all wave. Most of the time im surfing in anything from 1-4 ft so I have been more focused on the all wave range vs. pro wave also most of the waves where I surf can sometime be a bit fat as opposed to heavy & hollow.
If anyone has tried or has this model your thoughts on this board would be greatly appreciated.
I haven't tried the 8'6 -but I do own both an allwave and prowave in 8'10.(Both 2013)
They are both great boards but very different.I bought the allwave for my son to use,and for a more relaxing option when I feel like it.
The prowave is just brilliant and I would say that one of the things that has really surprised me about it is how well it goes in small waves.I am 70 kg ,so a little lighter than you but I would consider the prowave range even if your waves are a little fat as you say.I don't think it needs hollow waves to perform.
I think that it is at least as good to paddle if not better,and picks up waves very easily.
The allwave is also a great board but nowhere near as responsive under foot.The major difference is that the allwave is very stable due to it's width,but as a result it feels like a lot more board on a wave.
I think the 8'6 would change this a little but I would consider a prowave as well.
You might have guessed that I'm pretty stoked with mine...
im also interested in the 8'6. im 98 kg and found the 8'10 pro wave too hard to stand on (it is friggin wicked when on a wave though).
anyone larger ridden the 8'6. the extra 12 litres and near on an inch extra width might be good??

hey jefin, i rode the 9'3 back to back with the 8'10 prowave... no comparison. imo the 9'3 isnt half as good as the 8'10 and for me, it wasnt what i was after.
if you can test ride them. i would buy the 8'10 prowave instantly if i was 10 kegs lighter.
hence im looking at 8'6 allwave. 12 more litres and near on a inch wider.

Jefin, drop into ocean addicts at maroochydore they have pro waves from 8'0 to 9'3.
If anyone has an 8'6 wanting to go bigger, I'll swap my 9'2 : )
I have an 8'6 allwave on order. should have it end of next week. Looked at the prowaves' but I think ill have more fun in the ****e south Florida waves with a tad more volume and width. Being an avid windsurfer I cant wait to throw a sail on it when the wind kicks up. I will follow up with a review after I get my hands on it.

I'm 72kg and tried a mates 8'6 allwave back to back against my starboard hero. After 10 minutes getting used to the smaller volume I really liked the agility of it on the wave and its relative lightness. Nothing negative to say except I think after a few months you might find this also has too much volume for you.
Hi - I ride the 8'10 Allwave and love it. I'm a fit 64 year old and find it to be perfect for me after having owned the 9'2 then the 9'6 which was hard to paddle.
I'm 78kg and Surf Burleigh and have had some great waves on it. My mates say I'm surfing better too thanks to the board.

Hi. I also have a Fanatic Allwave 8'10" which I have had since Xmas 2012. Thought about getting the 8'6" Allwave but decided against it as I thought it would be too small for me, coming off the 10' Fanatic Fly, which is a great all round board itself.
I am about 72 kgs and think the 8'10" surfs really well in the mushy 2'-4' waves I go in. I really like the Allwave. Very easy to surf and pretty forgiving. Had to adjust my technique a little bit as it paddles differently compared to the Fly.
Have also sailed it in the surf with a 6.2 wave sail but reckon it would go better with a smaller sail as it felt a bit sluggish in the waves.
Surfed it last week at a popular local surfers beach (Terrigal) in 4' closing out waves and it was good but the waves were not the best for safe surfing. Too many dumpers!!
With another years experience I reckon a smaller wave style board would be the go. Maybe like the Prowave........we'll see if the director of finance says OK or not.
I think ill give the 8'10 pro wave one more crack. If its still a battle ill go 8'6 allwave. yeewww! cant wait go ride a little board in good conditions, not 1 foot onshore junk that ivd tested in so far.

After a month on the 2013 Fanatic Allwave 8'6 i couldn't be happier. Surfed it and sailed it in everything from clean waste/chest to windy blown out Florida shore pound. @6'2 and 79kgs i was worried it would be too small, but that is not the case at all. The flat deck makes the board feel remarkably stable. If you are on the fence between the 8'10 and the 8'6 go for the 8'6! My uncle 5'8 109kgs jumped on it and was able to paddle it in flat conditions(bit squirlly though). He then sailed it and no issues. Liked it so much he picked up the 9'2 for himself, replacing his 10' starboard whopper. The 9'2 is stupid stable and wide. Could have a picnic date on that thing. The pulled nose on these boards makes late drops really fun and manageable. Have a lot of steep/fast beach breaks in florida and the allwave handles them like a champ. My only issue is with the 8'6 is the weight. The hrs construction is reliable and very strong, but carries a bit more weight. I already have my eye on the 8'10 prowave carbon.
