Very happy with this purchase after 2 surfs , lots of glide and remarkably easy to turn in waves for a big board. Little runners are a blast , and stability is great . Good ocean board for surfers wanting to take on waves to surf , with a bit of exploring.
Luke from SHQ offered me an op to demo the PSH 12-6, and i have to say it was a lot of fun.The conditions were pretty ****ty ,small crumbly and a bit gutless,so it was a surprise to gain so much trim speed, and turning was quite easy in the poor conditions.I must admit i was lucky to get a couple of bigger waves with a bit more face and this is where it showed its true nature, one wave i took off all but sideways and on my backhand,i was pretty sure i was going to kiss the bottom, but no, she hung in and took off, very impressed. This wave also had the most face allowing a much better opportunity to try swing her around, big thumbs up!All in all this is very refinded big sup, and would be a great tourer.
Had similar experience the boards even on late takeoffs is very makable and so much fun. It just feels good / better paddling it in any conditions
standard supplied thruster works good for me. hate the single on waves quad would be interesting might give it a go next... Wonder what size quads would work best maybe AA knows...?
Any thoughts on how this board or the 14 performs in a downwinder?
Not really interested in speed, but stability and ease in catching swell are definite considerations.
I did a light downwind run from bayview to palm beach yesterday, the bumps were only tiny but i had no problems riding little runners on this board and had a heap of fun.
What a GREAT All-round Board, as AA said i surfed/paddled this board for 10 straight days 2 hours a day & had a blast.
A Big Thanks & Shout out to Austin and the Crew at Paddle Surf Hawaii, for their generosity & Aloha.
The first day i road it with a Gerry Lopez thruster set-up and found it really quite stiff, especially whilst trying to heel turn to catch waves out at different breaks like Pops,Three's & Keisers mainly due to the heavy trade wind conditions.
As soon as i put the big single fin in the board became really easy to turn & extreamly responsive & was really enjoyable on all the different types & sizes of waves!
I had the opportunity to downwind this board, surf some small rolling waves at Canoes, some larger ones at Queens & Pops & some really fast and sucky waves at Keisers & this board loved all conditions - Very Impressed!
I actually was with Supa the other day doing the Bayview to Palmy downwinder, he was loving life & the board was really moving nicely on the runners, the 12.6 PSH can hold its own with all types of raceboards.
If you get the chance to ride one you will Enjoy it! ![]()
Great feedback not surprised...
If you are up QLD way, this board is available to demo from SURF FX at Southport.
