The Displacement Hull thread veered off into a variety of DIY sharing. How about a "show and tell" thread ... a place to show off your DIY experiments, or even just your new rad bought board, to the other 14 people in the world who might actually give a crap!

Repeating my recent experiences:

SUP foil: an homage to Kalama and Surffoilmachines out of Florida. www.supsurfmachines.com/ Scroll down to his explanations for flat rails, deep chines, straight tails, and limited rocker -- make sense to me, seems to be a market standard, and best of all, straight lines = easy for a newb doofus. I am going for 6x28x5.75. Slightly rounded nose, square tail.

Surf foil: aiming for same design principles. I got photos of all the ones I could find online, blew them up and took measurements. I went mostly with the Amundson Nubby, with a nod to WCFC (really like the new slingshot, but too tricked out to aim for). 5x20x3. Flat deck, though I added 0.75" nose rocker with an after-market glued on shim of foam. Flat bottom with a nose kick starting about a foot back, tail kick from 5" back, just after mast boxes. I went with rounded nose and tail, though if I did it again I think I'd leave the tail more square. I went with 3" chines to 1.5" height. Will leave the edges hard, round off the deck edges. Below is Mr. Fugly, just out of the vacuum bag after gluing on some divinicell on the deck. Next steps: round off the deck rails, install the tracks, then ready for glassing.

Great topic and I wish I can do diy foil board as the prices of some of the foil board at the moment are rediculous. There's afew cheap brands that are here and coming but I'm not sure if I can trust the quality of the board and foil box? The diy would be fun but sometimes is costly if you dont know what your doing and you might as well buy a board. Good luck juandesooka and keep us posted.

Haha, the DIY journey starts with a chunk of cheap foam ... so cheap, how can you pass that up! Then comes $1500 at the fibreglass supply store ... epoxy is killer expensive. But making a surfboard is something I have always wanted to do, so it's cool to finally get to it. Foilboards are a nice beginner step, as the shaping screw ups really don't make much difference. Kiteboard after, same thing. Then a real surfboard once I at least halfway know what I am doing. :-)

3'11 * 20" eps / depron carbon fibre deck and 1/2 bottom. 2.4kg.

6'3" * 18" * 5" (!). Box is stepped so I don't have to shim too much...

Yes to keep the mount parrarell with the deck for level flight

Yes, pour foam hemmed in with eps scrap then I cut to the appropriate angle with a saw
