I found using a tail handle on my SUP dead useful in controlling the board when caught inside / getting out on bigger days.
Are folks still using these on their foil boards ? Worried that downward pressure on the tail means that when the wave hits the board flips up ??? Is it better to have the board, foil up dive under and pull the tail down?
Sorry for the cooky questions.

You don't want to be be anywhere near the board going through wave. It would be like sticking your legs in a blender....

You definitively do not want to get out with a foil on bigger days unless you know what you are doing (and thus not asking these questions :-) ), and are comfortable with destroying your gear, at least financially.

Ha, :-) Not wealthy and only have the 2 legs, so no intention of heading out in anything "big". Learning the basics in small junk, and isolated spots well away from everyone. Just have always been wary of relying on leashes so was wondering what folk were doing. Making sure you don't end up in that situation as much as possible is the call I guess. Thanks.

I've never had my foil board tombstone. It seems to foil up (backwards) and over the waves to some extent.

It's less drama bailing and diving under the sets and letting the leash do it's thing , than regular SUP surfing.

anyone else find the same?
