Ok. I have got back onto my Jimmy Lewis Super Tech 7ft 10" to see how it would feel.
Jumped onto it in flat water. No problem.
Then out into more swirly light swell entrance. Still ok. But a little more difficult.
But once out into open water with frequent chop & swell. No way! Just couldn't stay up! Amazing how it makes a big difference. So layed down & hand paddled it like a prone board.
27.5 wide was ok for paddling. But prone paddling gets tiring, slow & uncomfortable over a long distance.
And oh. I rode a wave when back in smoother water. But got the uncontrollable wobbles on the board as I rode it! Haa! But I must say I haven't SUPed much & had a 2 week break due to back injury.
But no problems at all when I took my Sunova Soul 8ft3" by 29 wide 110 litres out.
So now thinking I might forget about prone altogether & focus on a better fit for my size & sea conditions at my local surf which can be quite bumpy most times.
So now believe that 28 inch wide by around 6ft 6" volume 110 litres would be comfortable enough for stand up SUP foiling. Or 27 wide if the SUP is considered super stable for my weight of 80kgs.
Also thinking of selling my Jimmy Lewis 7ft 10" As it will get very little use now that I am foiling more.
So just wondering how short & wide others at 80kgs feel is comfortable enough in bumpy seas waiting for a wave on a foilboard.
