Has anyone tried this?

I was thinking there might be some advantages to having a boom, mainly not having to look up when gibing and tacking, the fine tuning possible and one handed operation. I had a crack.

It's heavy duty conduit with a doubled up strand of 50mm webbing connected from the front power handle to the aft handle. I notched the front of the pipe to limit its ability to turn. It's pretty tightly secured and feels solid.

I rode it today, and I was blown away by how much easier life was. Way easier to gibe etc, easier to get just right when I was caning along too. It flexes a bit and it absorbed gusts and turbulence really well. I think it's a little more powerful as it's automatically a bit more sheeted in when using the usual pre boom hand positions. Still the same Ozone good behaviour from the depower handle. I also feel like it was easier to pinch upwind toeside (I cant switch yet).

enjoy

Up there for thinking Clamsmasha
How much do you weight now and what's the range of that wing in knots or kmh?

Hey JEG,
I'm 80kegs.
On my GL210, bottom end is maybe 16-17kts. That has come down from 20 as I've gotten a bit better. I've been using an M200 on occasion and bottom is below 15kts but I hate how draggy and slow it is. The GL is scary fast in comparison.
The boom is easier to fine tune and get comfortable with, it probably brought the bottom end down a knot or two. It felt like the bottom end was lower once up and riding...ie tracking out from a gibe.
