Looks like I'm finally gonna bite the bullet and start wind winging
I have a couple options equipment wise to learn to wing on, a HS1550 or signature Albatross 210.
I'm guessing the Albatross 210 would be easier, as it has more lift when prone foiling. Would this be a good foil to learn with the wind wing?
Or should I invest in an Armstrong 2400?
I'm 72kg as well and can prone surf/pump easily.

The HS1550 works really well, especially for your weight. 2400 would be overkill unless you want to go out sub 10 knots. I am sure the Signature wings would be good too.

I have been doing heaps of winging now on lots of different equipment and must admit i much prefer the Armstrong for how playful it is, the 1550 is one hell of a wing as well as the 1200, they are fast, smooth and turn so well.
The 2400 is a cracker light wind option as it pops up in nothing, they are not as pumpable as the HA wings but way more lively and fun.
Have to admit that i haven't tried the Albatross yet but will be receiving a demo later this week so will have some better info if you want to get in touch.

Cheers Hilly, good to know.
I reckon Ill give it a go with the Albatross like you say should be enough. The sub 10 knot wind is here really unreliable anyway so won't be an option.
Jason, are you using the 85cm and 60cm fuse with the Armstrong wings?
Cheers Hilly, good to know.

I mainly use the 85cm mast for winging and the 60cm fuse for sure, looking forward too trying the signature stuff myself !!

Hey Jason, what tail and shim are you running on the Armstrong 1550?, I've just started and I put the the unitail and 0 shim on to begin with so it will give me the earliest lift.
For many beginners, it is difficult to wing up onto foil and unless you have really strong wind (for your wing size), I would say the 2400 will be much easier to learn on.

Not Jas sorry, but I use a chopshop 212 with 0 shim with 1550 in 15 knots plus. Below that 2400 same tail with +1 shim. Wish they would make a HS2000. I am 105kg.

Thanks Hilly, I remember earlier on you went back to the 300 tail after trying the 232.So you now you like the smaller tail do you find it takes longer to get up on the foil ?.Im using the big tail now with 0 shim and mast right forward because I'm trying to get up on foil ASAP,which I've managed in 14kns with the 4m wasp.I am also learning to SUP in waves so I like the stability of the big tail because while I'm cool with proning I totally suck at SUP.

6 6 Smik that I sup. Like the fact one board does it all.

Small tail is way faster and turns better. The 300 feels so draggy compared to the 232/212. But a little less lift, better you get the less lift you want as you go faster.
