About 20 sessions in and trying hard to learn how to wing switched but gees it's tricky to switch you're stance mid flight. Filmed at Green Point in Melbourne with a Mavic Air 2 in 15-25 knots. 4m Ozone, 92L Starboard Foil Sup
Lots of really good windsurfers and kiters have major blockage when attempting to switch on wingdings.
Maybe it's like kitesurfing with directionals.
Few are good at everything.

It's simply about time on the water and committing to do it. After your first 30 odd failures it starts to make sense :-)
Some nice bay swell.
...looked good. As someone who windsurfs and windfoils and been deliberating getting a wing (see my other naive posts), what struck me was how slow the wing foil was compared to the windsurfers in the clip. Im not saying its representative and im sure feels amazing...but having never seen a wing in the flesh it just struck me.

No speed records on a wing. But if you get it for that you have missed the point.

I use to sail slalom kit northy1, trust me, it doesn't feel slow when you're on one. I had the same opinion of Wingdings, looks **** and slow compared to wind foiling or windsurfing but very different when you're actually doing it. Got out in 1-2 foot waves on Saturday on the Wingding, you can't make a sail disappear and just foil the wave but you can with a wing. Felt awesome.
I subscribe to the 'don't knock it till you've tried it' motto. Tried windfoiling but found it a bit sedate and clumsy with the rig in my face all the time, took 4 goes with a wing before it clicked. Very humbling going from an ok windsurfer to a total kook again but well worth the journey.
Yeah, it's not about speed - but I agree that it doesn't feel slow. Also, if you already have a SUP or prone foil set-up It is only one additional piece of equipment and you open up a whole new range of foiling possibilities.
