Guys I've been using the Duotone 5m wing and loving it in all conditions from 15knots to 25knots and occasionally even up to 30knots gusts.
Wondering what boom setting everyone's using for the 5m. I've been on +54 for light conditions and out to +58 for heavier days. In between these two depending on the wind.

Be good to see what setting others are using to compare, depending on wind.

FYI...I'm riding a Wavechaser 165sfx (104 ltrs) board on a Moses W873 or W1100 front foil. I'm 80kgs

Hmmm, the 5m Duotone wing shows a boom length range of 165 to 169 right on the wing (I think?). I always assumed that would be 115 (+ 50) to 115 (+54). You're saying you go from +54 to +58. Maybe I'm not interpreting the numbers correctly but it seems like you're going from pretty flat (higher wind speed) to really flat.

I've never set mine beyond +55, but I also prefer to downsize to my 4m as soon as the gusts are pushing ~24 kts. The 4m feels so much more nimble than the 5, and I always prefer it if the conditions are right

Not to change the subject, but how are you liking the Moses 1100? Any idea of speed range? I'm assuming it's a pretty low profile wing (thin versus thick). Still waiting for the 1100's to arrive in the US , along with the 82cm masts. Seems we are last on the international distribution priority list for Moses. I use the Moses 633/483 combo for kite foiling and have a 790 for winging, which I haven't tried yet.

Short vid of using my 5m in winds gusting to ~21 kts and setting at +55 (Blue Planet 5'8" Carver board and Gong XL pro wing). I'm not that good yet, and the 5m is definitely a bit of a lumbering beast to swing over your head during tacks....

I have been setting my 5m Duoton from 50 - 54.
As per their recommendations.

Interesting to hear you have gone up to 58 for the 25 knot days.
Will keep that in mind.
I haven't be game to head out in anything over 20 knots with the 5m.

It might also be that the wings are "stretching" a small amount with use, hence longer boom lengths to get the same curve (?). I certainly notice the loop ends that hold the front of the boom to the leading edge tend to stretch with time, resulting in a just a bit more boom wiggle. Gonna tighten mine up a little

The first time I saw those boom markings I was shocked.

What idiot thought doing math in your head was a good idea.

This is a not a windsurfers boom. Think fresh. The boom marking should be simple.

Thanks guys...yeah I saw the boom settings on the sail. Felt they were a little too soft. So tend to pull it out more...

Was wondering what everyone else was doing.

I'm holding out for the second generation of Duotones before getting myself a 4m. Some days are nuts out there on the 5m.
