Just wondering if anyone is still surfing their old Takuma Kujira1095 because I am rediscovering & really liking mine, previously I only used my Kujira 1210 (mainly for small waves) but the 1095 does everthing well and performs almost as good as my lift 150hax, so any thoughts or options thanks:-)

Yes. 1095. Don't use it with the original connections though. Great bottom and top ends, turns well, pumps phenomenally. Glides ok.

If it got relaunched today under a different name and using a stiffer connection system, I'm sure it would be very well accepted and maybe even hyped

Options: AFS Enduro has better glide but turns worse and doesn't pump nearly as well, specially at lower speeds. AFS Silk I've never tried but would probably be more similar given the specs. Heard interesting things about Axis Fireball.

Agree with this - the connections and mast were a real problem on an otherwise great foil. So much play and flex in the Takuma system. Silk is the next step from the 1095. The Silks have similar glide, but roll much better. Clearly the same DNA as the Kujiras. I bet the 1095 with AFS mast and connections would still be a great foil. In fact its kind of hard to say whether the Silks (and Enduros) are THAT much better foils than the Kujiras or whether the AFS system is just 1000% better and lets the foils perform as they should.

I was wondering that too but last year.I still had an Cedrus clasic mast with Stringy Fuse for the Kujira1440/1210/1095 but also an AFS adapter....
Because for supfoil I really liked my Kujira1440 and 1210 I was thinking about getting an Stringy fuse to match the Kujira,s with the AFS UHM80 mast.Then I tried the EVO1650, Enduro1300 and Silk1050 also on the Cedrus with adapter.Straight away a lot less speed and more drag, so the impact of the UHM80 is very noticeable, but still the AFS planes were way more efficient the the Kujira,s.The Kujira,s had more a lifty/pushing upwards feel when take off then the Evo1650 and Enduro1300 but the actual lift of the AFS was just the same, just more managable/efficient.
When pumping on bumps you notice that the new foils are simply better and less draggy on the same mast.

1095 was released later than the other Kujira v1s, a very different foil, not just scaled in surface area.

1440 and 1210 can't hold a candle to recent foils. 1095 is a different story. In your previous post it's not clear whether you tested also the 1095 with better connections. With Kparts connections and stab it's still a very relevant front wing IMO.

ooh okay, I thoiught was clear from the first post.

I Tried all of them, 1440-1210 AND the 1095 on a Stringfellow custom fuselage that sits straight on the Cedus mast, so with the possibly best conection you can get....and its performance is even on the Cedrus imo not even close to a Silk and Enduro,s in both Supfoil and wingfoil. The newer foils out performs it imo with quite some margin.If the 1210/1440 were version 1.0, and the 1095 is 2.0 the Silk and Enduro are more a like version 4.0, faster and way way less drag and imo turing better as well (especially the Silks!).That said, I can imagine that when you come from the Kujira,s it takes a bit to get used to the thinner less lifty newer foils to use the low end.Btw, used it with KT (custom) and Kparts Carve stabs.

I don't wing any more, but also didn't like the 1095 as much for winging. For surfing (small waves), I prefer it over the Enduro unless conditions are such that more glide is required, which is not often. Paired with a HA small stab the 1095 usually has enough glide.

Don't know much about the first Gen Takuma but Kujira 2 foils are excellent , super smooth, predictable and carvy ,
and I also ride Code.

Yeah not much difference I think except the connections, masts etc:-)
