Over here in the UK, Autumn is definitely here. it's getting colder but I've still not put the heating on.
We're hovering above 10 degrees. I think it might have been as warm as 14 degrees earlier.
that's pretty much summer time. I've still not moved on from t-shirts to thermals yet. I'm still living in my own fantasy world despite the clocks changing.
anyway , I'm supposed to be working on my masters degree, hence why I keep vanishing from the general chat.
but I'm so easily distracted. As part of my degree research I'm looking at regional dialogue and languages etc.
After a few conversations recently about my ability to swear in any given situation I couldn't help but write another blog post which talks about the language of yachties. How we can say one thing, but it might mean something else.
it is pretty much full of sturdy language so anyone that might be offended, then it's not for you. www.boogie-nights.org/2016/10/speaking-yachtish.htmlI'm still moored up in Southampton, UK. So if any of you lot happen to find yourselves in the area for some bizarre reason (why would you leave a warm country for one filled with "pi*sy damp mist wafting around aimlessly" to quote a friend), do come and say hello and distract me further from my work.
it's fairly industrial, but not completely terrible place to be: (see pic)
