Its called a supermoon, 30% larger than normal. Because the moon is the closest it's been in 64 years. At 4 this morning it was shining in my bedroom like the sun.

A couple of years ago another supermoon caused such a large tide, with the resulting wind over tide huge waves, that I shredded my spinnaker when I broached badly on hitting a side wave in a 20 knot wind. It was very messy.
