Word on the street is that another "weather event" may grace our QLD shores next week. Fantastic.
Let's hope these murmurings are all a lot of bollocks.

It was predicted very early on to be a big cyclone season this year - 6 all up I think. A few years ago when I was planning a 4WD trip up to Cape York, I was still considering cyclones up until late June early July.

Wish you all the best for the race.

Thanks Selkie,
Staring at my brand new light air kite we had made for the race, that should guarantee it doesn't blow below 20.

Boty, make sure you leave a beer for us poor souls!

It is Twodogs, I was referring to the forecast model. You can change from ECWMF to GFS in the options. ECWMF I find more accurate, Keeping in mind the freebie options have a pretty large scale they average over.

Hey shaggy according to Seabreeze it looks like you might get the use that new light spinnaker. I am currently in Darwin so I will not even get to see the start. Both you and Boty have a good race.

Thanks Jode, we got some testing in today, 3-9 knots average. It was hard to keep shape in it running any deeper than 170, but surprisingly easy to hold up to 100twa. It might be in for a workout alright!

Boat porn
Love timber boats my father had a galvo when I was a kid.
Just don't like the idea of the upkeep otherwise I would definitely look at one.

there not much more work than a glass boat and a lot less than a steel one. but as much as i love them i understand other people not wanting to take on the extra work

What would be the extra work involved over a grp boty?
Even as a carpenter the thought of a timber boat is scary, but my thoughts are unfounded. If it's extra time required rather than needing the skills and knowledge of a shipwright, it may not be as bad as people make it sound.

i have boat yard specializing in wooden boats but 98% of work can be carried out by mums and dads and isn't hard as its mostly sanding and painting we normally roll and tip topsides on wooden boats every other year though our trawlers and fishing boats are every year
mind you if you buy something that needs a full rebuild it can easily add up as with glass boats
generally the major costs on maintenance of timber boats is the same as others with engineering interiors and rigging being the major costs
