I posted a Non-skid topic somewhere before (can't find it) but this is a bit more specific.

I need to know how well Kiwi-grip will feather into existing Kiwi-grip.

Here's my scenario. I desperately need to redo the non-skid on my 30' catamaran and I will need to do it on the mooring. If I mask off the areas to be painted I will be able to spread the Kiwi-grip but I won't be able to reach the far side of the deck to use the texture roller or to remove the masking tape. My thoughts are to do maybe the 6-8" inside the tape and leave the middle bare.Then I could remove the masking tape when appropriate and paint the inside area once the outside's cured. My worry is that where the two paint sessions overlap will not mesh in together, leaving an ugly join area.

Has anyone tackled something like this before? If it can't be done like this I could MAYBE reach the outside from the dinghy but trying to roll paint and then remove wet masking tape from a bobbing dinghy sounds very messy and likely to end in tears.

Opinions & suggestions appreciated...

We did the foredeck with paint and Intergrit. the fore deck has two sections to nonskid. so we stood inside
the section to be done first and worked towards the other section, then stepped inside the second section
to complete the first. We did the second section the next day being now able to stand on the first section to
complete the second. Make sense ???.

Yeah Sam, makes sense. That was my Plan C, just do hull width by 1m sections and work forwards, but as they don't have delineated areas I'd still need to be worried about where the section that has gone off meets the new bit. The other similar option is to start in the middle and go back, front, back, front, alternating the area while it goes off enough to stipple roll. Again I have the "What happens where they meet" issue.

Is it possible to set up a plank so you can crawl across as you paint it

I used Kiwi grip found it easy to use
you could probably spread the paint on the hard to reach areas and work the stipple roller on those areas before you paint the easy to reach areas
in other words working backwards to a wet edge if that makes sense

No experience yet, but literally just bought a can yesterday to have a crack at it (possibly this Friday).

I'm in the same situation as you - need to do it out on the mooring, and I'm starting with the stern and working my way forward. Here's the deck prep I've done: imgur.com/a/SdBPq so far. I was pretty concerned for the same sort of reasons - what about areas I couldn't get to easily etc, but I found this video: where a guy goes back specifically to get to hard to reach places with a couple of homemade brushes and just stipples it on himself - seems like you should be able to do it, as long as you put on and equivalent amount of paint each time.

I'm really interested to see how many sins it will hide on mine - although I've done a fair bit of sanding and scraping, I'm no expert, so I'm hoping that the thickness of the kiwigrip will cover it up a bit!

I'll post some pics when I do get it done anyways - if you beat me to it, I'd love to see your before/after too!

spot on question, how is the maintenance of it? And had you applied it on top of flow or gelcoat?

Ummm, were you asking me? The video wasn't my boat - I ended up going for a grey paint.

That said, I don't know if I posted here the update on how things went - I made an album of it: imgur.com/a/04EWOB5

The photos are all of the progress, don't really have any showing the deck since.

In general, it's held up pretty well. I do notice dirt & bird poop a little more (though if you see what I had before, that's understandable!). Dirt comes off as soon as water washes across the deck. A quick brush with some water and a scrubbing brush gets any bird poop off. I bought some soap just in case, haven't pulled it out yet.

There are a couple of spots where crew have dropped the boom or something that have bashed the paint off, but I'm really confident that I could repaint it in a flash.

Have just this weekend repainted with kiwi grip. Seems like you either love or hate the look, but one thing that almost everyone who has used it says - it is user friendly (water based) making patching easy, but more importantly - making cleaning v easy - indeed I've found that spills up to 4 days old on flow coat are reasonably easy to remove.
A couple of tips though: I made sure I only painted in mild limited sun conditions & with patching used a low to medium fill (the experts suggest 2-3mm thickness & only work in small patches & with blending (wet to drying paint) do quickly as the texture will change depending on the tackiness. One clear learning with kiwi grip is do it once & do not go over recently tacki dry painted areas - a bit like epoxy - don't overwork & if you've made a mistake, just let it dry & sand & paint again if that makes sense.
In my case I initially used a custom color (cloud burst grey) and the redo, meant I had to exactly match colour (via bunnings) ... and of course over time UV impacts, so I chose to go a slight change lighter & hope for the best. Unfortunately it wasn't exact - so I chose to very light coat the whole boat (without painters tape) - worked out very well - see attached photo
