The other day I when I fitted a different fuel filter setup I replaced the main fuel hose that goes from the tank that sits above and behind the engine to the filter that sits below the engine sump because the end was hard and I wanted a good connection to the filter barb

When I went to throw it out yesterday I noticed half way along its length it had been rubbing on something and has worn through two layers of rubber and was nearly through the last layer

Hi HG

It was a bit of a rush job to get her going to slip her so I went to the local chandler and bought some Gates Primo Flex www.spareco.com.au/documents/pdf/496-3000Gates%20Premoflex%20MultiPurpose%20oil%20Resistant%20Hose.pdf they had instock

Not sure if is the best choice for the application though

Also still thinking about the email question you sent

The job took longer that I thought because the original hose from tank to filter was marked as 8mm so I bought some of that but when I removed it I found that the Original filter inlet was 8mm but the tank outlet was only 6mm and the hose has been clamped down to seal

The original hose from the filter to the lift pump was 6mm so I had bought a meter and a half of each size

i had both 6 and 8mm barbs for the new filter so It was back to the chandler for some more 6mm hose

Doing it on the mooring and having to dingy in when I needed something unexpected was a bit of a pain

The he original hose looked ok and was stamped 2009 so it was not that old and it was only that it was a bit hard on the end that I decided to replace it as I could not see the where it had rubbed through when it was in place
