Does anyone know a good shipwright etc that can replace windows in the modern way, ie using 3M tape etc.

I have contemplated doing this job myself but we have moved our boat to Drummoyne and I don't have access to a jetty with power etc anymore.

Boat is a Northshore 27.

Are you just going to replace whats there Keen sailor the acrylic windows or complete new port lights?
Most plastic companies will cut your acrylic to size just remove one of each to copy or a template

they work a treat South Ace great in any weather except when its raining

Knowing whats involve I wont be doing that again Ill probably do the front hatch next year though.
Dr Rog when he was down commented on a chip out of the gel coat I had under my original hatch where water sits at anchor .
I've sealed it up since but will tidy it up next year





So the plan will be fill in the lip between the inner and outer lip and add a Lewmar opening hatch or some thing sinilar

why wouldn't you use fixtech keensailor they do a sealent for acrilic plastics?

I found the guys from fixtech really helpful. they supplied me with the tape and the sealant.
I used lots of masking tape and did a few dry runs before I actually applied the sealant. However even though I didn't need to I bolted the windows to keep the traditional window frames that were on the boat originally.
If you can't find a good window fitter I would encourage you to have a go.

Whats a good brand and designed Hatch then I've noticed a few broken hands in threads in sea breeze

I had Gebo hatches which leaked where the extrusion is butted together and I replaced them with Moonlight hatches which have the extrusion welded. There are no more leaks, but the handles don't appear to be the strongest ones I've seen around.

When removing the Gebo hatches, they were virtually destroyed as the sealant used was hard to break. If I had my time again I would bed the new hatches down with a mastic that never goes hard so that the hatches could be easily removed if needed. I also use Fixtech for nearly everything but I know that if I had of used it on my hatches, they would never be coming off again in the same shape they went on. So if you do use Fixtech (or something similar) make sure you do a very good job as there will be no chance of a second attempt at the job. Skinny aluminium extrusions do not like being levered off.

Your options are limited by the dimensions and by the radii of the corners. We were limited to one brand (as far as I could see) to replace ours.

I did mine with tape and goop on a mooring. Was a difficult job that took 2 hours per window to install with my wife helping plus removing and preparation time. If you have 4 windows I'd think you'd be looking at 10+ hours plus materials even if you could find someone who could do it (I don't know who would).
