Part of the deck refurbish on the mighty Icon was to improve the drainage finish on the raised deck cap toerails. Although she doesn't take much over the bow my main problem is chafe on the fibreglass as I run springer lines through rather than over the top of the teak/jarrah capping.
I managed to purchase 6 scuppers and found a China man engineer to machine out the bottom section so I didn't need to recease the part into the deck cap. After a bit of reshaping I managed to get one out of the 6 fastened and faired tonight. Should like smick once complete and less wear when mooring.
Gotta love boats.
Maybe it would be better if you mounted the metal upside down. That way the lower f/g surface which is more likely to be abraded, would be protected.

The China man said he went through a carbon tip trying to machine! I tried various power tools but the $180 the China man charged me was well worth his experience. The lower section needed to be removed so the water can drain at deck height and wasn't going to resses each fairlead/scupper to suit.
2 down 4 to go! I actually think I may fit 2 more but I would need to cut them out from the toe rail but will think further about this!
Cripes 3 each side should be enough? Yes I drilled 316 stainless plate today with 1/8" Cobalt drill bit and even with that it was a real battle and only 3mm thick stainless. Ok was using a cordless drill from the dinghy not a drill press..................

The aft transom drain does bugger all apart from will take the stern lines. There is a spot between this that seems to hold a few drops of water! I don't understand why they didn't fit a drain at this place when they rebuilt her.
Cripes only a few drops of water............think you have achieved perfection right there with your scuppers, so just give your timber toe rail capping 3 coats of Feast Watson varnish then sell the masterpiece to concentrate on your new Bluewater.............

No vanish 2 coats of jarrah stain every 2 years. Varnish belongs down below decks.
