My Raymarine ST4000 (tiller pilot) head unit, went crazy and can't be revived. At the time of failure it was 100% loss, meaning: dead head unit and useless 12v ram. But today I reduced my loss by at last 50%, whoah.
On my boat SeaWind 850 tillers are at both hulls sterns and single centrally positioned motor is about two meters away from each of them. In Marinas operation of the motor and steering at the same time was a "challenge" (haha). Now this "challenge" is a memory.
ST4000 ram is manually controlled by "joystick" on four meter cable reaching to motor controls, no more jumping to and from when single-handling.
Wireless control was examined and excluded due to power supply: 12v cell in hand unit (not popular and costly), if it would operate on eight AA I would reconsider.
Do not throw away ST4k working ram, use it.
