Boy, is RH creek a beautiful spot. I'm so glad we anchored "outside" overnight to wait for high tide to get in.

Still, pretty shallow - 0.2m for us with a draft of 1.3m

Don't bypass this one.

It is a beautiful place Bristol but do not trust the anchor holding too much. If you want to stay for a few days you might be better off exploring the anchoring a bit further upstream.

Doing this sort of coastal cruising, your obligatory next stop is Pancake Creek. Not to be missed and the walk up to Bustard Head Lighthouse is cream on the cake.

With a 1.3 meter draught, Eurimbula Creek on a tide is a possibility as may be Middle and Jenny Lind Creeks. Careful observation of tides and pre exploring with your dinghy and some sort of sounding device, weighted marked line will do it, is recommended before entry though.

I hope you have Noel Patrick's "Cruising the Curtis Coast" in your on board library. It will guide you into the best places to explore between where you are and Mackay.

If you go Pancake Creek, go for a walk to the lighthouse. If you do, take some money. For about $5 you can pay the volunteer caretakers and get a tour of the house and the lighthouse. It is a long walk back to the boat for the wallet. (Info from 2014 so things may be different now)

PS - what are you doing wasting a glassout at 1770? Get out to Musgrave, Fitzroy etc. If you have to motor the last few miles to Musgrave you have won the lottery, it is great out there when there is no wind and can be terrible when it blows up.

Tongue firmly in cheek with above post. That said, Musgrave is great in the lighter winds.

Not that much of a secret, try to avoid anchoring on the coral in from the entry, the national parks guys reckon it's getting a flogging, more likely to be fishing boats than sailors I imagine.

What (another) lovely spot. Crawled up from RH creek under sail in 5kts of wind but, hey, 12nm so who cares?

Anchored in the dark, so got this lovely surprise at 7am this morning.
