Hi All,
I'm refurbishing a 13M, 15 ton yacht on land in the West Brisbane area, and it will be ready to be moved to the water later this year. I'm thinking of taking her to Monty's Marina out at Beachmere to fit the mast and then launch from there.

Do you have any recommendations of who I can use to move her? and an idea of costs would be handy

John is very good. A straight forward honest truckie who'll look after your hull. However, his weight limit is around 13-14 ton. I just scrapped in around that mark, but it was touch and go. He cut me some slack. And I had to cut 2ft off the davitt posts to fit under the freeway overpass. A small price to pay to keep John happy. I'm not sure it was really needed, but he obviously has his calculations and you should respect that. Incredible feeling to drive down a main road watching years of your life cruising along atop a truck in front. Surreal.

I know that several years ago when she was lifted out at Scarborough, the stern and bow rails were left on supporting the mast. So, hopefully the height won't be an issue.

Just spotted the removalist's details on his trailer, looks like Terry Burns.

This topic is of interest to me. I'm wondering what the costs would be to have my Spacesailer 24 trucked from the haulout at the Scarborough marina to my home at Margate. It's about 4 km away.

I have lots of jobs that I'd like to do on my boat and working from home is a lot easier than working 40 minutes away at Monty's up at Caboolture.

Terry Burns was highly recommended to me. I spoke with him about a proposed yacht move which did not eventuate and he seems like a straight guy.

Something to watch for is do NOT move the boat during school holidays, as heavy haulage is banned from major roads in this period. There is a certain way to do it, but the extra cost is pretty horrific. I went through this a year ago moving our boat from Port of Brisbane to Manly. We ended up motoring around as there was no sensible way to do it.

its a pity you don't have some sort of cradle with even small wheels or skids you could then possibly use a tipping tow truck pending you weight. as it would not take up much room when not in use even if it was bolted together when you needed it you would have to do some home work a skid cradle would work and the truck winch to get her on and even a car to pull it off at the other end of the journey or the cradle lashed to a tree.
