Hi all

One of the local blokes here who has built some beautiful sailing boats over the years is launching his latest boat tomorrow

She is about 25 foot long and built mainly out of Huon Pine and it has taken approx 6 years part time

Today she was craned out of his yard and placed on to the Yacht Club slip to have a traditional launch tomorrow

Here is a couple of pics of placing the boat on to the slip

Regards Don

The plan was to have her finished for the wooden boat festival but she was not quite done and the builder is a perfectionist and didn't want to rush it

He used to build wooden boats for a living and he told me once that in the old days before there were any safe work practices and the glues and paints were a bit dodgy he would be painting inside the boat, come up to vomit and then go back inside and paint some more

He told me his doctor told him if he wanted to see his kids grow up he needed to give up building boats as a profession and get another job so he just built them in his spare time but he retired a couple of years ago and has been able to put a bit more time into her

I went to the wooden boat festival with him and he was looking at boats and telling me about their history and chatting to their owners as he knew a lot of them
