Would the esteemed members, who exchanged old PFD's for new ones, comment on the quality of the product they received (not the service), please?

I am surprised, nobody commented on this thread.
It is hard to believe not one of us had swapped his old Mae West type for an inflatable.

I thought about trading in the smaller kids pfd's, & likely get an updated one for myself also, but unfortunately they couldn't co-ordinate themselves with the Flare disposal van that was going around. It wasn't worth a separate trip into town in a regional area.
cheers

No. They were very cheap. it was like BCF knew they were doing the swap at the boat ramp near them and discounted them by about $40. They haven't been that cheap before or after that.

Didn't come across any new for old pfd rms gig so I can't comment. We always wear inflatable PDFs but have not fired one ! A bit flare reminisnt ? Maybe they should come with extra gas.

Was this 'new for old's campaign as successful as rms claims it?

Was the service they gave as professional as they claimed?

Were the products they provided as good as they claim? I got serious misgivings about the pfd's quality to the users detriment.

However, l would like to gather some opinions and comments about the subject from users who have experience more than most.

Just a note on inflatable life jacket.....they are great but have their limitations.

Don't wear them on any craft that you might fall overboard more than once a day eg. kayak, SUP or a small sailing dinghy/yacht.
For those you should always wear a PFD2/3 because if you fall out/capsize you want a lifejackt on that works straight away and is still a life jacket when you get back onboard. If you inflate you PFD when you go over and then deflate when you get back on board, it's no longer a usable PFD.
A good example is my brothers Shaw 650 sportsboat. It's a 350kg big dinghy which we lay flat a few times a season so we wear PFD 2's. Now when I had my Ethcells, an inflatable is fine.

is there a Victorian version of the program?
I have a number of old my first inflatables that should really get ditched (have been serviced but past bladder age) and would be happy to exchange if the replacements were reasonable quality.

That is the peccant part.
That is the reason why l started this thread.

I would like other users opinion on the quality of the PFD's they distribute.
