We sail to the amazing little Island of Middle Percy, park Nautilus in the lagoon and settle in for 2 weeks of tropical island bliss, coconuts and all. Mid Percy is very well known amongst the crushing world as a very nice place to stop for a day or two. Ive done just that a couple of times, this year I wanted to stay a little bit longer and got in touch with Cate & John the leaseholders. I offered to help them out with some projects, in return I could park Nautilus in the lagoon and stay in the infamous Treehouse.
This is part #1, part #2 coming this thursday.

No, that would make it famous, not infamous.

Infamous means it is famous for all the wrong reasons, generally a bad reputation.

Beaut place. Have always spent as much time there as possible, usually chased out by weather

Seaka has a Top Hat pennant on the stairs to the top floor of the A frame.
My job there was to help John paint all those bee hives.
My reward was a lunch of goat and venison, best meal is some weeks at that stage

Pity about the roll in West Bay, if the lagoon was ever open up for mooring would be a must for every cruiser going past.

Are boats not allowed in the inner lagoon now? We were there In 1981 and it was great even with the emu that was chasing our dog around so that the only safe place was in the treehouse or on the boat for him. The Lagoon entrance was fairly narrow for a cat though.

Hi Tomooh. The lagoon is open for anyone wanting to go in there. There's markers on the entrance but it is pretty narrow and you need a reasonable high tide to get in safely. I had to go in at 10pm as the AM tide was too small.

There was no Tree House in 2011 but the activities in the A Frame were a little bit too public for us solo male sailors

Maybe that is why the Tree house was built

Hmm, I recall the tree house being there back in the early 2000's . We went and had lunch up at the farm house and bought fresh bread and a Few liters of honey mead .

As far as infamy goes, the place has an interesting history. The earliest documented European use was by a veritable Buccaneer for imprisonment of his Kanaka slaves before market on the mainland. I get the vibe the island is still haunted by its dark origins.
