Phoenix your picture has given me a great idea . You can see my picture below where someone has installed the raymarine interments? Very painful!
i have looked at a pod system on the pedestal or moving them above the hatch inside the dodger but it's a tight fit both big jobs.

have you mounted them on a angle so they are level when sailing? That would enoy the hell out of me when under motor like they do at the moment where they are currently placed.

Im going to bite the bullet and order the sail track and slide system hopefuly here for Christmas so I can fit it while out at remote islands. Approx 45ft at $35.50 per foot. I think it will be a fine investment as currently raising and lowering the main is a bit of a pain.

Has anyone here fitted the same system?

Southace, I have found if the method of fixing the sails' luff to the slide has too much play (or slack in it) the main can be hard to lift or drop.
Is this part problem?
I had difficulty lowering the main until I tightened up the way the slides connected to the luff and it now drops piece of pi$$.

Na it's more to do with grease and grime up inside the internal round section the lugs slide in. Even when I pushed the test disk up it was intermittent but cleaned out after a few runs up and down. seems a good sytem . It's my Christmas pressie last year. Was the silent wind gen.

Ordered my Tides marine track system. $1940.00 hope to get it for Christmas!
Next year I will microswade my upholstery in white and paint out some of the timber As well as adding a port side Silent wind generator.

I'm still waiting for the rigger to fit the mast head before I can do any more on the mast . So Ill work on getting her back in the water before Xmas and then start hassling the rigger . Bought a airman speed and temp sensor kit which Ill fit at the weekend ,Ill just leave the blank in most of the time.

For me is was insurance for when I get older, putting getting the boat back in the water a bit longer. Like a few other things I bought long the way.
Buying a furler and other things there all high cost items. But I felt Im better to do them now and I don't have to do them later when I retire or wish I had.
Even buying a dinghy I need to watch the weight and how its can come aboard , how its lowered as I get older .I don't need a injury that would permanently stop me sailing.

I bought the stainless slides South Ace sorry I didn't see you post.Friction wise Id say the stainless maybe the brass is for a traditional look .
You can blame Donk if it doesn't work he put the link up years ago to Tides marine.
Im taking the day off next three days may rain but Ill roll a coat on the non skid today take a chance. I'm sick of the bloody weather

Rodriguez live tonight should be good and Old Sugar man Hopefully without a walking frame or oxygen tank like some of the bands I've seen lately . I think some of them should have retired gracefully

I tried raising my main yesterday for the first time since ive done my mast work. Pleased to say i can pull 9 m of sail up with 1 hand. Lubed track. New masthead sheaves. New exit sheaves(just those ronstan plates ) changed topping lift block with was fouling the main halyard. A massive difference all made possible by having the mast down.happy days

tides marine slide system arrived this arvo.
After a few dry spots we dragged the last quarter up with a slide in the track with a the topping lift and me in the boson chair stopping two inches below the main halyard sheave And just enough at the tack to be fastened below the gate. 47 foot to be exact! Thank good I didn't have to pull it back down to cut the top section again to refit! She goes up like butter and comes down like lightning! nearly time to go saling!

Didn't see the moon until I zoomed To the pic neither did I see it with the binoculars !

Webbing to my sail is a problem can take the main to get the slides attached but it's a big job and don't really want to have to remove battens. I'm thinking Velcro webbing or stick with the little shackles I Fitted? any solutions?
