Hi all

I bought a unused (a few years old but still in the box) Magma gas grill/stove (A210-027) on Gumtree today

Just wondering if any of the forum members have one and any advise on using it would be appreciated

Don't the gas burner over the side like I did.

No the BBQ is good ,l'm the useless one for dropping it.

I had a bit of a look at it today and one of the reservations i have is that when cooking stuff with lots of fat the drip tray does not seem very large and it looks like it would overflow easily

It came with a couple of rail mounting brackets (I went out to the boat this afternoon and the small diameter one fits) so i can mount it hanging over the side so i assume that if it overflows it will end up in the water

It also looks like it needs to be disassembled to clean it and i am wondering if this is a drama (apart from making sure not to drop the burner overboard )

Yes it is a bit messy, but quicker than mucking round with trying to light charcoal.. if mounted on the outside of the rail any fat will drip into the water and not on the boat. If think if I remember correctly, it didn't like a lot of wind.

i got one of the coal ones mounted and i really love it. i have 2 coal webers at home too. Theyre very well made bbqs those magmas. im sure the gas ones would be great. i love the simplicity of the coal ones. no bottle.

You can buy any extra bracket at whitworths they are a great bbq but as said before don't like 25 knots of wind.

I have the round gas model and its great cooks with flavour and reliable bit hard to clean on the boat and a bit flighty in a a strong breeze but you can put the hood on the side as a wind break

Hi all

Slept on the boat last night and used it as a stove with the frypan to cook some snags,tomato's and eggs for tea and worked well with only the frypan to wash up so it was a easy meal

Love my gas magma. Mounted on the outside of the pushpit so any fat drips harmlessly. I have been known to lose the occasional sausage to Neptune. Aluminum foil is your friend. Use it to cover vegetables,roasts and anything else that needs gentler cooking. Toast is nice and crispy and I bake bread by wrapping the risen dough in double foil and placing it on an expanding metal vegetable steamer.Enjoy your Magma and let your imagination run riot!
