If the intention was to be able to drop the mast sometimes to get under bridges, then maybe the framework design has a purpose. It would lower very nicely without swinging, however watch out for the forces as it approaches the horizontal.

its a boat .

its probably at least twice the size of some peopl,s .
it looks different however it works.
life is to short for me to care about strangers opinions.
i forget at times while I am enjoying a sundowners in an idelic spot ,
that it is not approved of by so many ,
and I ask myself what was my father thinking when he and my mother spent two and a half years buildin it.
then I remember how i owe no one any explanation for how it looks ,
and care even less about name calling and narrow minds .
it was built buy a man to take his wife to Beutyfull places to experience a paradise that was not readily
available in the country that he had to escape from to be here.
and they spent thirteen years enjoying it,
living a dream that Australia made possible.
it may not be a pretty boat to some ,
but it makes life beutyfull.

I like taking photos of boats and yours caught my eye. Both myself and my friend on the barge in Cooktown both agreed it looks practical.
And we both liked the tinny in the transom garage.
I have connections in Weipa for employment PM me if you would like info.
The biggest killer here is accomodation. Your yacht will be perfect although aircon might give you some relief.

I went down the harbour this arvo for a little drive.... A couple of new liveaboards and mostly mackeral and Barra boats.
Rio are building a new ferry dock to accomodate the new mine on the other side of the harbor in the Hay river.
Like I said before the best place is up Roberts creek but you would need to commute a 10 minute tinny ride across a the harbor if you get work. I lived up there on the barge for 2 weeks a few years back. Town is a long hot walk so you might need a pushy or motorbike if u need to get to woollies. Enjoy. I will keep my eye out if you arrive within a month. Regards southace.

I have a son working out of Cooktown on a crayfish boat. I'll tell him to look out for you.

Firstly, do not know why you chose the name "Stupid" cos you are obviously not.

Secondly, in this case the owner/builder/designer strategy has obviously paid off handsomely. Does not matter what a final sale value will be, over two generations the boat has been used, and generated huge dollops of value.

I agnlolage your posts however may compromise my case if I reply.

Weipa harbour 3 anchorages.
Top pin is closest to industrial area and service station that has basic supplies Town is about 9km north. You can even bank your vessel right in the corner of that tidel bay Near John evens road.

Second is the spoil ground in the middle of the harbour that's a good one if you come in at night just drop the pick in 3 meters of water out of the shipping Chanel.

3rd bottom pin is Roberts creek. Enter at high tides there's one port marker post the starboard has been knocked down follow the creek staying in the channel there are mud flats and crocodiles on your left. There is a large liveaboard motor cat at the entrance and a series of mornings and small boats follow them close. Chanel is all around 4 meters.

Also if you have the time try and make a 20 to 30 nm south down from Weipa to Boyd bay and Falulse Pera head. You could also get into the Normandy creek. Soon there will be a massive ship warf built out from the cliffs so it's work seeing these places before its destroyed.
take note not much shelter in Westerlys but SE trades Southerlys and SW is all good.

I been messing around with my new navionics updates and sonar charts.....here's a more accurate pin drop on Roberts creek first pin is approx where white port pole is standing. Second pin is approx where large motor cat with 5 pig dogs is moored. Third is about the end of the moorings . It's worth going in your tender at low tide and checking the Chanel the water is clear. Attempt the channel at rising high tide. Once clear of channel it's good deep narrow channel. There are two other moorings up the river about at the bottom of this pic.
a cruising aluminium cat came in yesterday I think I seen the same cat 2 years ago at Boyd bay.
have fun and don't go swimming!

Not chance of that unless I am in the reefs out wide.
going to do lizard and some outer reef .
then cut back in to Bathurst bay and princess charlet and on up the coast.
