Interesting yacht^^^, I thought mine was the only one heavily built out of 6mm steel. When I stand mine on the beach at near 12ft tall and 12tons I just feel tied thinking about building something so massive, all rolled and curved with a lot of gas. Who builds boat like these anymore?
Plus gotta love a double ender, for me I'm not a production boat lover. No real soul I guess!!!

How about tiller steering on 45 footer, and
beam only 3 metres plus a few inches.

I like the idea of the steel sheets and if your reasonable welder you could build the basic hull in less than a month.
It has bilge keels so you could bring it in on a high tide drop your anchor have a few beers and climb down the ladder and scrub your sides down and bottom paint over a couple of days no marina or crane needed or fees as it has the bilge keels and a rudder post to sit on
I did read of one skipper didn't leave a ladder down while walking to land when he got back he could not get aboard and drowned

I do know Some one tried to take on a large ship and just bounce off , in one

a welder, a few comalongs ( chain or steel rope winches) and some dirt to lay it all on and a good scrap yard for parts if you wanted to do one on the cheap

I have been looking at this model Jeanneau there is one avalible in Qld ....this model is single wheel steering.... I found it looks small in the video although that might have something to do with the enoying sales person ! (I seen him to a utube on a hunter as well!)

Regarding the Jeanneau 43 DS, nice boat ... pity about the used boat dude, he sounds somewhat limp wristed

With the money saved on the price of the Jenneau you can buy a lot of big hats.

I have a copy of the DVDs and a set of plans. Was going to do it myself although for me it is a massive project.

Brent is an absolute gem of a character. It takes some doing getting used to his accent.

Oh so your suggesting should just go out and buy whatever? That's crazy..... I'm in transition of selling 2 yachts before I buy another.....I have time to do the research I don't want to be on the selling side of the market again! Trust me the opportunity is not going to pass me by....I have a good feel for the market now and once I'm ready to move I will get what I want for the price I want..

Haha, I love setting sails and with a good auto pilot I'm always playing with them or the girls!
Well not really with the girls so much as I found single handed sailing is magic, oh why am I selling my Valkyrie?
Hmmm, felt like I was working yesterday in the shop, when I could of been getting ready for a trip up north.
But iv had my 9 years and life moves on, however guys don't leave it to long and just take off for that horizon.
Funny to think Val is fatter than the 50 footer but sails faster than a skinny clansmen, without the heal.

I have always liked traditional looking yachts and this one fits the bill, very pleasing on the eyes.

I charted a Nantucket Islander not a bad boat to sail at all, plenty room below one I sailed had a few rain leaks and you feel you up high in that center cockpit

The picture of the deck says it all to me. Look at all those screw holes holding down the teak. Everyone is a site for leaks. I am not talking theoretical here as I know owners with screwed teak decking and it is a nightmare on older boats especially. This technique of screwing the teak through perfectly good fibreglass I have seen on other boats built in Taiwan like the Nantucket 38 (the Peter Cole designed 33s were built in Australia by Comprador Yachts) and the screws go right through the roof under the lining. And I note this Flying Dutchman 12 was built in Taiwan.

Ive read a few stories about removing the worn out Teak and chasing and removing wet soggy ply fiber glass decks on a lot of old T.W teak decked yachts

What, $170,000 before you sell your current yachts. That is an envious position to be in. Can you spread yourself thin enough to manage three yachts???

Cisco you are very welcome to that one! I have seen these 28's in a seaway downhill and its not a pretty picture, they roll something chronic.

That "1989 Swanson 28" called Intuition looks a lot more like the Cole quarter tonner, around 26', of that name and custom built for Nick Yared in 1974.

I sometimes wonder where people pull these figures from. If I was trying to get rid of that I would be begging someone to take it for free!

If you were in the game....boats like this have great salvage value (if you do get it for nicks)...Teak is over USD 2000 m3 for round log...add premium for well aged milled timber???? (could make some interesting tables etc) Then add the value of fittings...winches, portholes .......etc that maybe sold as is, and the rest, copper bronze stainless sold as scrap....very easily $10K, with a bit of work
