I have just replaced a Quick brand hotter heater with a different brand heater. I can't remember the brand name but it comes from the US of A.

I have had the old heater removed for a few weeks now and I had continued to use the boat/engine by just looping back one of the coolant hoses that ran through the heater tank back into the engine. I have forgotten which hose was ran where. Does it matter to the heater how the coolant runs iie. coolant in and coolant out, and how it runs into and out of the engine, or does it not matter as long as there is a completed circuit?

Cheers.

I don't think it matters Toph, as long as the circuit is complete, as long as there's no impedance to the flow it
should work fine.

Thanks Sam, that is what I think too. I am just not sure if the internals of the tank are a one way flow type or not. The destructions don't say either way

I would think Toph that if it was one way only there would be 'inlet' 'outlet' stamped on the appropriate orifices.

There is on the water heater. I don't know what's in and out from the engine end. Being just a heat exchanger I didn't think it would mater though.

I don't think it will matter then Toph. Just plumb it in and fire it up. As long as the the water flows
through the engine as it's supposed to then you can't do much harm. Anyway you've only got to
switch the engine off if you are unsure about what's going on and rethink it.

If one is high & the other low coming from the motor use the highest line as the intake to the heater

If it's any help Volvo advise the top of the water pump as the return line from the water heater. And the engine block fitting is the supply side to the heater.

I've fitted 4 over past 10 years Isotherm , quick , woodsys and now have a Italian made sigma brand. The coolent runs through a coil of copper/stainless tubing in and out it shouldn't matter to much but I I would go with lazzzz advice or by the stickers on the new tank. Also change your anodes in the tank yearly Toph
