Currently I have an old 6 switch breaker panel which has one faulty switch. I want to buy a new 6 or 8 switch breaker panel and have the following things to provide power for;

1. anchor light
2. navigation lights
3. mast head light
4. VHF, stereo and GPS
5. cabin lights
6. temperature and oil pressure gauges
7. depth gauge
8. USB socket for charging
9. galley sink water pump

Can I use a positive buss bar for say "accessories" e.g.; VHF, stereo, cabin lights, gps, USB, galley sink pump
so that it only uses one breaker switch ? Will that overload that breaker switch ?

Whats the best way to design this ?

These are the panels I am looking at are;

Blue Sea 8 Gang Vertical Circuit Breaker Panel 12V DC (SKU: 84311N Whitworths) $350

BEP Contour 8 Breaker Panel Vertical - no meter (901V) $350

Any ideas on these, they look pretty much the same.

I bought a touch pad system off eBay
It's has 12 touch pad switches and the wire ribbon
Is around a meter long which circus to a box which has 12 breakers 15 amp built into it it also has an option on one circuit
Some don't like these I do and every cattapillar machine I work has touch pads switches . It's never faulted in 6 months .

One of the advAtages is its compact as far as the touch pad goes and the wiring is located to a more practical location the touch pad ribbon loom is small and easy to place to conect to the breaker box $150 for a12 switch a little less for a 6 switch $100

Made my own as I found that the commercial panel switch lights drew more power than anything else on board

the box on the left is where main power enters and also main earth the terminals represent the 12 power terminals which goes to what ever you want to conect
earth from lest say a light returns to earth for me the fuse box next to it inside the box every terminal has a 15 amp circuit breaker you can also see the ribbon loom coming from the touch panel. thats a fully seal box even where the ribbon loom plugs in coming from the touch panels is reasonable sealed
If I ever had a problem I can quickly connect any battery power to anything by just pulling the terminal off and wire direct from the battery plus a in line fuse.
Ill probably make one and have it ready to use at some stage before I'm finish the wiring .
Its not for every one but I'm happy

For me it meant the switch operation can be located in a small area and as long as you can fine a position for the connection box close by its a good system.
I work on earth moving machinery and these touch pad are in most of the machines these days some machinery work in very corrosive environments far more the the sea could do to them.
Its all personal choice these are not for everyone. But I will be buying another soon located in a different position on the boat
theres a lot more wires connected now this was a early photo months ago
One thing to remember using this touch panel is it has an adhesive back and once fitted I would not try to remove it . In saying that you could also fit the touch panel to a removable panel so it could be move to a different location if required



I can tell you it does not look like this at the moment saw dust every where its a bloody mess


Ill router four opening slots for the Leds to let light into the cabin those will be recess and fixed to the cabin roof. I should have the cedar routed tomorrow night and Ill finish off the roof on saturday




I bought nine LED strips water proof and encase in resin and will wire them all in in a variety of ways before I'm finished.
I'm also fitting LEDs to every storage compartment , so I can find some thing in a hurry if needed all wired to one switch they look blue in a photo but are white in reality

I had to removed the screws as they were not stainless just aldi cheapos for plaster fixing I bought the right stainless screws tonight along with a good counter sinking tool so thought id use the leds up while I had the cedar off NSW sailor
A lot will happen in there in the next couple of weeks port light in and cedar on roof and cabin sides Im over no windows and taped on Plastic bags over the openings
I cant do anything to the interior till I have the port lights finished and sealed up
If you look at the spacer on the right hand side you will notice its been routed so have all the others and then think or the wood shavings covering the inside of me boat its a mess I can tell you
