The mighty Icon is high and dry now! Antifoul, prop speed and cut n polish back in Monday . So glad to donate my hard earned cash to the local museum and slip.

How long since you hauled SA ? And what did you use ?

2 years n March had diver twice, hemplels anitfoul seems great but changing to abc anitfoul this season.

She's got a few bubbles in the hull but I will. Give them the blind eye and just re-antifoul.

Prop speed completed and 3/4 of below waterline antifouled in abc 3 black! Complete antifoul tomorrow and then start the cut n polish! I love boats.

Ok will be interesting to see how the abc goes, I'm 18 months with the jotun AF on and looking ok, but it's different waters we are in

A question- how well do reckon the propspeed works? I've heard it needs about 2500rpm or more to work effectively. I can only get 24-2500rpm at full stick, 98% of the time she's cruising at 1900rpm (6kts), so I always thought propspeed wasn't worth it. I don't know how true this is, I'd really like to hear your opinion, and the opinions of anyone else who uses it. Thanks.

Prop speed is great if the applucater is accredited to use the product. It's basicly silicon coat but needs the primer to bind onto the etched bronse or stainless. If you don't clean surface, mix primer and follow the guide lines it won't work.
i have witness a few horror amurtuer applucaters. It does depend on a lot off situations on how well it works..

3m cut is ok , I would recommend waxing it with this starbright wax . It expensive but worth the money for protection. Hold the buff as flat as possible when cutting gelcoat not on a angle and use a spray water bottle to avoid burnishing.

I dont want to be a party pooper, but how do you get to be able to slip your boat, or Toph, dive on it, or go sailing, when were meant to be basically in lockdown?

Our yacht club is shut shop, piers etc are off limits, I can even get near our boat to check it after a blow we had a good week ago.

I must be missing something..?

partly its due to different restrictions in different states...

For me, while we are asked to stay at home, we have also been told we need to keep an eye on our boats. I even got an email from our marina saying that we should continue to enjoy the marina and provided we don't have anybody other than our household members onboard, the boats are far enough away to practice social distancing.

fair enough.

Enjoy it fellas, easter weekend here was just picture perfect looking on the bay, but we risked getting the fine even if you drove down to go for a walk.

The bay was empty.

Theres only so many household chores you can do.
My highlight was to soak and high pressure wash the mainsheet.

I'm finding that I have to dive and wipe clean my prop speed about every 4 weeks otherwise the barnacles build up over the prop edges.

South Oz is a lot more relaxed with the rules, the museum is closed but the slipway is still operational and there only source of donations. It's great to see a few volunteers (all over 70s) coming down and doing what they love best.

Sounds like your not getting a good etch and clear coat on the edges or getting cavitation on the tips. The thicker the clear coat without getting runs the better.
