Oh no. More TV reporters breathlessly standing in the rain wearing their raincoats with their TV Station logo showing us pictures of flowing rivers, windscreen wipers working, cars driving through puddles, surf on the rocks and the obligatory blown over tree! A friend of mine was a reporter for a long time and told me how they would drive around for hours and hours to find a blown over tree or anything damaged to stand in front of to do their story.
And I love how the media says "super storm". How about Typhoon Fengshen, About 600 people were left dead, Hurricane Hanna, in the Caribbean islands killed at least 500 people, Typhoon Morakot caused massive flooding in Taiwan and left about 700 people dead or missing. Hurricane Ida in El Salvador left almost 280 dead or missing for a start.
But that wont stop our media carrying on like pork chops about our bit of wind and rain.
True trek. I saw it on the news and thought "naaaaaa" they've done it before. Make something out of nothing based on something that happened that got a lot of attention. I'm from raumati.

Nice beach at Raumati. When I was learning to sail P Classes at Petone if we waited for a day with wind less than 20kts and no rain we would never have got out on the water!

I agree....get them all out the way early on in the day
7.30 Friday morning ..... as predicted channel 7 just showed a car driving through a puddle and David Koch warned us to brace ourselves for the East Coast Low. Looks like the media has a new buzz word.
Its so major they have a guest meteorologist on next to tell us it will rain and be windy on the weekend. Good grief!!!!!

Hell of a hail storm in Alice Springs the other day but our forecasts for the weekend are moderating all the time! It's going to be a pretty boring super storm.
Next weekend is looking very bad for sydney. Seas are 6.5 m yesterday they were predicting 50 knts Friday night. Great when I only get one weekend off out of 3 and my last was the previous low
