is it uv stable or would you need to cover it
Went to the place that sells it and they say it does deteriorates in the direct sunlight so would need to be covered, which is a bummer because I really would rather not add to the complexity of the procedure not to mention the added cost. The eva that Jolene is looking at is the same stuff but different form as the uncovered cushions at Whitworths and does have the UV stability and is also what is used for the jigsaw matting.
The trouble is getting the right thickness and density and in economical sheet sizes. The traditional material covered, thin matress foam cushions just aren't comfortable to sit on in my opinion and they soak up water eventually. They also end up over the side due to lack of securing.
I have the 20mm stuff with the holes in it as flooring in my cockpit and I think its great. Makes such a difference to walk on in bare feet. It is the holes that reduces the density overall too and makes it softer ( less of the foam per square foot). It's also very tough. I had my heart a bit set on being able to mould a sheet of the white EPE and glue in strategic places for surfboard soft top effect that I just replaced every now and then. It really is comfortable to sit on. Fibreglass boats are much more comfortable at the change of planes than my aluminium boat due to the rounded moulded construction.
