For me I can't use a roll over anchor like the manson supreme it would have to be like the boss because of the bow spit
interferance

Beware of the curved shank on the Vulcan and Boss. These anchors do not sit well on my boat. The Rocna I use is a lot better but does twist from side to side a bit. I normally take if off when doing a passage or when the weather is a bit choppy.

Use to have a Delta but had to sleep with one eye open because it had a nasty habit of dragging (not in sand). (I always use at least 5:1 ratio)

It would be good if you could test the Vulcan or Boss on your bow roller before actually handing over any money. You could always modify your bow roller to suit these anchors if you have your heart set of them.

Manson Supreme + angle grinder and a selection of cutting disks for the front of your boat.

My 'Supreme was worth the time and money spent making the damn thing fit.

The Vulcan will sit on the bow sprit. Just take it easy for the last couple of feet and it will self right. Pull it in hard and greenies won't budge it from the roller. And it is a reliable self launcher.

I think things have moved on a little since these tests.

The Vulcan was introduced after these tests.

I bought a 9kg Vulcan a while back and only just used it recently. It holds very well and I was very surprised how easy it was to remove. It's a 27 footer at 2300kg so not a huge boat.

I think the best anchors are still the Spade followed by the Ultra. Both expensive and hard to get. The Vulcan is a pretty dam good copy of the Spade and would be my choice for a bought anchor. 12 kg would be fine.

I would consider modifying your bow roller set up if your set on carrying an anchor on the bow.

Boat came with a delta, bloody thing dragged more often than it held, replaced with a rocna, substantially better but still dragged occasionally and ALWAYS brought the bottom up when retrieved so tried again with a sarca excel now NO drag and a clean anchor when it comes up.
Couldn't be happier.

The Vulcan will always self launch without a fancy setup. Your old roller will do nicely. It was designed for the enclosed rollers found on some power boats,

What would the difference in strength be between the Gal and the aluminum anchors?

Hi HG

I would be interested to know whether you think it would have fitted in the original anchor well before you cut it out

Regards Don

I have no idea Donk it's not reason I removed it was more to do with the deck cover opening and the wind taking it away plus the room it took up in the forward cabin plus the weight factor much like the old ice box that was removed heavy
