Thanks mate the love wears very thin at times. Weirdly the AIS uses wifi to connect to my iPad which means I can't wifi the internet to my iPad from my phone , the Victron battery monitor uses blue tooth which is great so I can be on line , update the app. Run navionics, email , face book. The vesper 8000 is a pain , I'm trying to use it on my old iPad but can't get the newer version updates! Old school was good at some stage!

whilst there are advantages to wireless tech, it definitely has its downsides too (including reduced reliability and increased battery usage).

maybe it's time to upgrade to an iPad with cellular?

I started with iPad with cellular was paying two bills for the phone and iPad. Yes maybe I should go back down that track. Not much battery draw friends m iPad and devices I'm adding. Proberly nothing from all the anolog gauges I pulled out though!

It's the best I can do at this stage. I will look into a HF radio next so I can Australian reg the boat.
