I'm not sure what your getting at Sands but yes the 4 day barometric graph seems out. We had a gale warning last night and that only seem to come out on bom after I posted a pic of MetEye on social media. And we still managed to have a sail boat sailing around the gulf at 4am this morning getting rescued!

not sure how many crew are up the top end , but this view gets the whole lot in

5 degrees in Melbourne at 4pm according my car..thought there was a fault with the outside temp reading. But its true.

Lost sail and wind power after visiting my home town! That photo I presume is the "stricken yacht" Probably be quite sea worthy with out the bimini, solar panels and probably davits etc. Good news is that it was towed to safety.

Bit of weather here yesterday arvo and overnight. I'm at 1100 m at our ski club lodge on Mt Mawson. I reckon there were some 50-60 knot gusts yesterday arvo and overnight we dropped to -4c. There was a nice 10-15cm of snow to play in this morning.

Apart from using all the above, one of the most useful apps I have is called HobartWinds. It aggregates all the Automatic Weather Station (AWS) data into a bunch of color coded wind arrows at each of the AWS locations. So this one gives you real time data at a glance. Touching an arrow gives the precise direction and present wind speed range and then you can drill down further to a graph to see the past wind trend/speed, current direction and speed range, and also a future forecasted direction/speed in a lighter shade. As it's in my pocket, I use it all the time on the water too. The app was a freebie, just Tas based, but the same developer (p4G) does an Aus wide version called AUSWinds. Anyone else use this?

Hey SandS and all@sea, I am looking at the chart you linked to and wondering what makes it better than the 4 day forecast.

Is it the forward and reverse buttons?

It is a pity southace had to come in with his crap. He did not answer my question but I will deal with him in another thread.

may not be better . just different and ok for pc use . i havent played with any overlays that it may have either ?
sometimes the printed four day version is easier to look at ? and comprehend ?

I appreciate having the 3h intervals as opposed to 12h, as well as the ability to choose a region to view in more detail... In my experience the weather at these (Tasmanian) latitudes is generally more dynamic than it is further north, so being able to see smaller increments is really useful. A drawback of this chart is cold/warm fronts aren't drawn, but you generally get a feel for where they are by the shape if the isobars combined with predicted rain. I find I get a good sense of the coming week's weather from this chart, and sometimes also use the Meteye for local conditions (especially when planning a surf).

The old 4-day chart shill gives a good overview, but I rarely check it.
