Well, our sailing season is underway, We have had two racing events and a Xmas fun day. The numbers are steadily improving, with five minies on the starting line, and eight class5. The wind was up and some great close racing was had, a couple of small bingles but nothing that caused any damage. Great to see everyone going home with smiles on there faces, Sandgropers is a great club with a great group of people that get on and all help each other.

Neglected to take pics but the handicap day on 10 Jan was a blast. Wind started off SSW at 15knots and slowly built to just on 20 knots with some swirly gusts to make life interesting. A couple of 360 spinouts were impressive later in the day. Mini's were dominated by Alex in the windsurfer special and the Club 88 competition was interesting to watch with some good tussles.
Last weekends was great for sailing, the racing was fast in moderate winds, except when some of us got caught in a willy willy, which sent us doing three sixties across the track, the spectators loved it, not so much if you were sitting in a totally out of control yacht. But I guess that is what makes our sport exciting.

3 mini's and 5 Club 88's on the line for the handicap meet. Wind shifts made the racing tricky at times but a great time was had by all.
Last weekend was a great day for sailing, with yachts sailing in both class5 and mini races, unfortunately, we had to shut after 4 races in each division, as Perth went into Shut down with report of the covid virus, some of us had a fair way to go and did not want to take the chance of getting locked out of our areas, some of us travel over 200k to sail. so hopefully we will get back on the lake next weekend

Last Sunday was Memorial day, combined with scratch racing. The winds were a bit funny again, light and changing direction a few times.
Aus230 had a successful day winning the memorial trophy. We finished the day off with some snacks and a few coldies all in all a great day
Some old pics from days gone by

Last weekend was the state championship. A great weekend of racing, The wind was a bit shy at first but remained steady all weekend. after the trophy presentation was finished, we settled into a quiet evening with a great feed and a few drinks. Some night sailing was had and was great to watch with a well-lit sailing area and lots of colored lights on the yachts. We were lucky as the next morning the sky opened up and flooded the lake. I think everyone that attended would have enjoyed the weekend. It was the best turn out for quite a while I think its onwards and upwards from here.
