I posted a couple of years ago about going fast in my blokart. Couldn't get past 86 kph as I was on 2 wheels and sliding out.

Last weekend, queens BD long weekend, in WA, changed that. Out on Lake Lefroy everything came together. Wind 35 knots, gusting to 42. No water on the lake, plenty of room.

Kart kitted out with every thing for speed and a couple of side panels to improve streamlining.

No one else was sailing, 29 yachts there but I just had to go out and try. Maxed out at 101 kph, then Ben jumped in and cracked 108 kph.

New tyres down to the canvas in about 6 hours sailing!

would the 108 not be a new record.. I believe the exiting record to be 103 or something. ...or are no world blokart speed records kept

The sail fitted was a re-cut 3m blokart sail down to 1.8sq m. So not official maybe. Also had side panels fitted to improve airflow. Still, I went like a scalded cat!!

I would give it to you. It takes a lot of consentration and skill to hold a small platform landyacht like that in a straight line at 100+kph. Well done guys.
But guess what, you will have the fastest speed record for the "International 5.6 Mini" landyacht as far as I know.

The surface area of the pod tended to slightly push the bow to leeward.

Setting up for the speed runs we put in two big tacks to get enough height to clear the causeway.

Once ready we sailed at 100-110degrees off the wind sheeted in and hung on.

During the runs I was worried about hitting the causeway due to navigation error or blowing a tire and cartwheeling the yacht.

The actual speed run wasn't the scariest part it was sailing back to the pits.

My understanding is that there are six recorded speeds of wheeled blokarts going 100 kph+

These speeds were recorded with "standard blokart gear".
What you have done is what is needed to push the blokart faster that is to reduce drag, if we really want to push it further! Great idea with the extra side panels and the smaller sail. When my 2.0 is really blown out my plan was to cut it down some. Probably enough that it fits on 2 or 2.5 mast sections and see how it goes!

The sail was re-cut by Bugsy ( Avalon Sails )who designed the sail to start with. I wanted 1.5 sq metres but it came back at 1.8 so I left it at that. 3 mast sections ultracarbon, 350 mm pulley wip and the usual blokart tweaking.

When we finished the tyres were down to the canvas,unbalanced and the gaps in the rim were full of salt making it more unbalanced.

We will have another go one day with a heap of spare wheels balanced and ready. 115 kph --here we come!!

I thought you guys did exceptionally well, as when I sailed Vindicator the day before, I thought the surface was not particularly fast - I got over 110kph at one stage (90 deg to the wind is best in Vindi), but with the wind on friday it should have been in the 120's or better.
Have to hand it to you guys for your efforts, I've got a way to go to get there in my 'kart yet!

I thought i was fast at 90.1 in SOS but my daughter did a 105.1 a few years ago( she was 13 at the time)in Green arrow
It was verrrrry impressive to se the lads going out time and time again in the modified blowie.
i wouldnt have been game in my mini
