Hi everyone,

We are a French couple living in Port-Hedland... We have just practiced kite-surfing for few hours in Perth (less than 10 hours) and would like to know if somebody in PH could help us with some lessons (we'll pay for it!).

There are not so many kite-surfers in PH and we don't know at all if the conditions are ok for beginners.

Thanks for your answer!

I used to live in PH but dont know anyone that kiteboards up there. if you are confident at relaunching in the water and know how to self rescue you should be ok to give it a go in the bay of the Spoil Bank (the Northern side not the port Side) the water will be flat and if you do have to self rescue you can slowly drift in to the beach.

I dont know how you will go getting lessons up there but just hit up some local kiters when you see them out ask for some tips. as long as you know all the safety stuff, self rescue, safeties etc i cant see an issue, after all its not like theres many people on the beach to worry about...

If you want to advance a bit quicker check out youtube videos, this way you can watch the moves like we can on the beach in perth and then give em a crack.

Be safe and get more lessons if you come to perth.

Hi,

Thank you for your answer and your advices.

We would like to come to Perth to have more lessons but it's not easy as I just started to work in PH. I have to wait for having days off. But we hope to do it soon.

We have seen few kite-surfers in the bay of the Spoil Bank and it looks good but we have not enough experience yet to go there by ourselves.

I think your're right, we should go and talk to the local kiters when we see them.

Thanks!

See ya
